The Transmitter

Item #: SCP-5833

Object Class: Thaumiel

Special Containment Procedures: Due to SCP-5833's constant broadcast, it must be kept in a zone with absolutely no electronics.

First Contact: SCP-5833 was first discovered when a Foundation aircraft picked up a rogue transmission from a body of water known as [REDACTED]. At first the pilots shrugged it off as a military broadcast, but they became suspicious when the on-board reciever began to overload, with static clogging up all audio. This stopped only when they turned it off. There had been no mention of this on their assignment, and they decided to inform the Foundation.

2 days later, 3 aircraft were sent to investigate the source of the transmission. The aircraft to first intercept it had a tracking system that allowed it to locate the exact location of the broadcast, which was almost directly in the center of [REDACTED]. The mission leaders were surprised to see that the source was coming from a small island that had somehow been undiscovered, with no documents covering it. By now the exact same static was already being picked up again, stronger now that they were closer to the island.
