Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe1
Special Containment Procedures: The object is currently kept floating in a shallow 30cm body of water at the bottom of its unlit, spherical containment chamber, guarded by a pair of armed Foundation officers, tasked with terminating any personnel without clearance on sight should they attempt to access its containment chamber. The walls of the containment chamber, as well as SCP-XXXX itself, have been covered in styrofoam. All handling of the object is prohibited unless clearance is approved by an O5 council member.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a yellow number 2 pencil of unknown brand. At the time of writing its length is 12.6 cm, and the condition of the pencil seems pristine. It will most likely function as a regular pencil, but researchers have not yet dared to attempt confirming this.
Due to the nature SCP-XXXX', it has been near impossible for the Foundation to accurately assess its exact properties without risking the death of thousands of personnel and the destruction of Site-██.
It is capable of causing a massive non-radioactive mushroom-cloud explosion that has little to no effect on the object itself. It is the common belief among researchers, based on Field Agent Y. Glebovich's last word (see Discovery), that this occurs when the object is dropped from an unknown minimum height; the Foundation has so far refrained from testing this exact height due to the immense risk it poses to the preservation of other SCP items.
The object is most likely not only immune to its own effect but is completely indestructible.
Discovery: When Foundation agent Y. Glebovich was dispatched in a response to a "nuclear explosion" near a massive, now-vaporized, lake in Belarus. The item was discovered completely unharmed in the middle of a 3.42km crater, sticking out of a small mound of ash and dirt.
At the time, the now-deceased Agent Glebovich, was in contact with researchers on a walkie-talkie while examining the site. Suddenly, following a short "whoops" uttered from Agent Glebovich, contact was instantly lost and Mobile Task Force Theta-14 ("Led Adrenaline"), was dispatched to retrieve the object hastily, and placed it in an SACU2 and transported it back to Site-██.
