Item #: SCP-645
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a standard humanoid containment cell at Site-██. The cell must be monitored by surveillance cameras at all times. Interaction with SCP-645 is limited to personnel with Level 3 clearance or higher, and only for testing or interrogation purposes.
SCP-645 must be provided with a daily meal and access to basic human amenities, as it exhibits the physiological and psychological needs of an average human. Under no circumstances should SCP-645 be exposed to reflective surfaces or allowed to view its reflection. Any accidental exposure must be reported immediately, and affected personnel are to undergo psychological evaluation.
Description:
SCP-645 appears to be a human male in its late 30s, standing approximately 1.8 meters tall and weighing 75 kilograms. SCP-645 exhibits no anomalous physical characteristics under normal circumstances. However, when SCP-645 views its reflection in any reflective surface, an anomalous event occurs, designated as SCP-645-1.
During SCP-645-1 events, the reflection of SCP-645 will begin to act independently, displaying erratic and hostile behavior inconsistent with SCP-645’s demeanor. The reflection attempts to "escape" the reflective surface by pounding on the glass or mimicking violent actions directed at the observer. Prolonged exposure to SCP-645-1 phenomena has been shown to cause severe psychological distress, including paranoia, hallucinations, and, in some cases, suicidal tendencies.
SCP-645 itself does not appear to be aware of the actions of its reflection during SCP-645-1 events and expresses confusion when questioned about these occurrences. Psychological evaluations of SCP-645 indicate no signs of dissociative identity disorder or other mental illnesses.
Addendum 645-A:
Incident Report 645-12:
On ██/██/20██, Researcher ███████ accidentally activated an SCP-645-1 event by holding a clipboard with a reflective surface within SCP-645’s line of sight. The reflection began exhibiting aggressive behavior, attempting to breach the surface. Researcher ███████ reported hearing whispers and seeing fleeting shadows after the incident. Following psychological evaluation, the researcher was placed on medical leave for treatment of acute stress disorder.
Containment procedures were updated following this incident to include the prohibition of reflective surfaces within SCP-645’s containment area.
Addendum 645-B:
Interview Log 645-04:
Interviewer: Dr. Budner
Interviewed: SCP-645
Dr. Budner: Can you describe what you see when you look in a mirror?
SCP-645: I… I don’t know. I’ve been told something happens, but I’ve never seen it. I don’t even like mirrors, to be honest. They make me feel… off. Like something’s looking back at me, but it’s not me.
Dr. Budner: Do you hear or sense anything unusual when near reflective surfaces?
SCP-645: Sometimes. It’s like a static sound or a hum. It’s faint, but it’s there. Like something waiting.
Dr. Budner: Thank you, SCP-645. That will be all for now.
