Item #: SCP-5597
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-5597 is contained within Armed Biological Containment Area-14, an is held inside an outdoor, glass-dome enclosure measuring at about 91.44 meters in diameter, 47.72 meters in height, and 7154.03 square meters of ground space below. Since very little is known of the capabilities of SCP-5597, it is to be kept inside its containment cell at all times, unless instructed given Level 3 security clearance.
Description: SCP-5597, also known as "The Reject Queen" among Staff, is a large, humanoid-insectoid entity standing at 3.7 meters tall, and 124.8 kilograms in weight. Genetic analysis has been inconsistent, though actively shows traces of human, and Carniolan Honeybee DNA. Its body is covered in a deep brown exoskeleton, with dark violet abdomen and a burgundy thorax. its face is a pale cream color, framed by a thick ruff of plush, yellowed fuzz filled with pollen. Its eyes are dark, beady, and seemingly capable of blinking, though not fully.
Addendum: SCP-5597 displays a level of intelligence above average to that of most human adults, and has been observed solving complex and abstract puzzles in mere minutes. Though capable of speech, SCP-5597 speaks in an indecipherable language that consists of drawn out vowels and occasional buzzing of the wings. It shows mild frustration to those who visibly or orally express their nonunderstanding, but remains docile. will also communicate through body language, as well a small range of vocalizations that it will display whist orienting between activities.
SCP-5597 was discovered in the lower mountain ranges of Slovenia. Reports of an enchanted forest and the strong scent of honey were initially ignored, until reports of a gigantuous bee being caught on film began to surface. Foundation Agents responded soon after, venturing into the woodlands of the small Slavic Town. Agents reported smelling an odd combination of honey, as well as rotting flesh thought the duration of the search. After three hours of searching, a small dispatch of Agents were able to pinpoint the location of the rising scent to a oversized, underground beehive, accompanied by the cadavers of sever hundred instances that bared striking similarities to SCP-5597, which are now referred to by Foundation Personnel as SCP-5597-2. Each had died via stabbings and lunt-force trauma, and thousands of normal honeybees had begun to swarm the area for its honey. SCP-5597 was the only survivor, and displayed my signs of trauma to the exoskeleton, as well as a detached stinger having been lodged into its side.
The interior of the former Hive was designed similarly to that of a Victorian Era palace, complete with honey-meld stone walls, as well as carpeting, wallpaper, dining rooms, ballrooms, worker quarters, as well a hand-crafted silverware, plates, and other human necessities each crafted from fine iron. The Palace lacks any windows, and the only other exit was into an underground field of gigantic wildflowers extending for hundreds of meters. The surrounding cave was carved out to accompany their growth, and were provided the needed light to grow by thousands large, spherical lamps, their combined glow reaching to approximately 90,000 lumens. However, a single orb only produces about 1,750 lumens, and dangles from the ceiling by graceful coils of iron. These same orbs can be found throughout the Palace, illuminating the halls with a soft, golden glow.
Each orb contains a cluster of small, glowing insects that resemble moths, to which don't appear to need oxygen to survive. These moth-like insectoids are thus referred to by Foundation Staff as SCP-5597-3. If an orb is broken, all instances of SCP-5597-3 will flee the orb, fluttering into a single, indeterminate direction. Approximately sixteen seconds after being released, each instance will slowly begin to completely dissolve into the air. No sucessful testing has been able to determine how the moths are kept alive, or if they were alive in the first place.
Later tests confirmed that the attacks on the instances of SCP-5597-2 were inflicted by SCP-5597, likely from an instance of queen rejection that can be observed in normal honeybees. However, these attacks were not inflicted by stings or bites. Rather, by hundreds of large swords, daggers, and other forms of medieval weaponry, all of which were clattered to their bearers' sides.
SCP-5597 was unconscious at this time, , allowing safe transportation to Armed Biological Containment Area-14 for further study. A large burlap bag was slung over its shoulders, containing a hand-bound book, and inkwell, and a quill crafted from the leg of a deceased instance of SCP-5597-2. Inside the journal are inscriptions of an unknown language that consists of gestural characters, similar to that of Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs, as well as vivid ink drawings depicting other insectoid creatures.
SCP-5597for the most partis very docile to those who understand how to communicate with it
