Special Containment Procedures: The area of Lake Lerna containing SCP-5001 has been contained by Foundation personnel and sniper towers were constructed to prevent anyone from entering Area-5001. If SCP-5001 were to breach containment, any swords for containment use of SCP-5001 must be heated up to 2500°F to cut of the heads and to seal the source of SCP-5001’s heads. SCP-5001 is to be sealed by flamethrowers due to flaming swords no longer having effect on it. Gunfire are to be directed onto the SCP-5001 heads. The flamethrowers are to seal the stump on SCP-5001’s body. SCP-5001. When incapacitated, SCP-5001 is to be transported back to its containment site.
Description: SCP-5001 is known as the Lernaean Hydra in both Greek and Roman mythology. SCP-5001 is described as an aquatic serpentine monster with three heads on average, though the head count may shift to 9 or 12 heads.
SCP-5001 stands at 15.24 m tall and its weight is estimated at 19050.9 kg. Each head of SCP-5001 is 5.24 m in height, while the body is 8 m tall. The length of SCP-5001’s neck is 2 m each for each neck. The length of SCP-5001’s tail is 13.50 m.
SCP-5001’s anomalous properties come from each head: one breathes fire, one breathes a toxic fog, and one shoots water jets in high velocity. SCP-5001 also seems to have regenerative properties, as when one head is cut off, two more grow in its place. SCP-5001 can only be damaged by attacking the heads.
Addendum - Discovery: SCP-5001 was first recorded between 700 - 600 BCE. SCP-5001 was first defeated by Hercules and was believed to be not a threat when it was defeated. SCP-5001 resurfaced in 1989 in Greece, where it was first defeated. After witness reports that match to the myth of the Lernaean Hydra, in 1995, the SCP Foundation was alerted to Lake Lerna in Argolid where SCP-5001 was spotted. Due to SCP-5001’s regenerative abilities, MTF Sectorian-1 (Delta Insurgency) was alerted to the area where SCP-5001 was. SCP-5001 was stunned when a flare gun was shot at one of the heads. The former Delta Insurgency commander ordered that flares are to be shot at the heads, followed by gunfire. The flamethrowers used sealed the area where the heads would pop out. SCP-5001 was transported in a giant cave located in the middle of Lake Lerna; this area soon became Area-5001.
