Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5880 is currently uncontained. The only way to keep it from affecting people is to stop people from entering within 18 meters of SCP-5880. If this happens, no attempts to save that person are permitted, and all who try will be given amnestics to prevent them from trying again.

Personnel will be stationed at the site of SCP-5880. Said site will be under the guise of a dangerous segment of the beach. Civilians who try to enter the site will be administered amnestics and put into the water to be found by a lifeguard.

Description: SCP-5880 is a shore located in ███████, ████████. SCP-5880 was found on 2/17/████ when tremors at a beach stopeed after 3 teenagers went missing. 2 personnel from Site-██ went to investigate, when 1 disappeared and a body was never found.

Video logs of SCP-5880 have all shown that SCP-5880 is a beach with sheets of ice covering the water. Though there is ice, it isn't cold. When someone crosses over into SCP-5880, it immediately becomes night, and all surroundings are replaced by SCP-5880. The lake floor is unusually deep, and is somehow illuminated. There are 7 entities at the bottom of SCP-5880, titled 5880-A-G.

Every time someone has gone in, the radius of effect has increased, and another entity appears. Originally the radius was 6 meters, and it has increased by 2 ever since.

D-9989043: So what am I supposed to do?

Dr. Bianchi: Check your mic first.

D-9989043: Oh right. Check.

Dr. Bianchi: Hearing you loud and clear. Now walk forward a few steps.

D-9989043: What’s gonna happ-

Dr. Bianchi: Just do it.

D-9989043: Okay, okay. Walking now.

(D-9989043 disappears from his spot on the beach.)

D-9989043: What the hell just happened? It’s night now. How did you get that to happen?

Dr. Bianchi: We didn’t. Now look around. What do you see?

D-9989043: It’s a beach. There’s ice covering the water. As I said, it’s night time. It looks like it goes on forever.

Dr. Bianchi: What about everything else around you?

D-9989043: Huh.

Dr. Bianchi: What is it?

D-9989043: I turned around to see what was behind me, and it was the beach. I turned back around, and it was the beach. Everywhere I look is the beach.

Dr. Bianchi: Walk into the water.

D-9989043: What?

Dr. Bianchi: You heard me. Walk in.

D-9989043: Fine, but if I have frostbite when I get back, I swear.

Dr. Bianchi: Don’t talk to your superiors like that.

(After a few moments of silence, and the sound of ice sloshing about, audio was lost with D-9989043.)

Dr. Bianchi: D-9989043? Are you there?

(Silence.)

Dr. Bianchi: Damn.

D-9989135: Check.

Dr. Bianchi: We can hear you.

D-9989135: We?

Dr. Bianchi: I. I can hear you.

D-9989135: I’m walking forward now.

Dr. Bianchi: Okay. Good.

(D-9989135 dissapears further from the shore than D-9989043. Dr. Bianchi takes note of this.)

D-9989135: Where am I?

Dr. Bianchi: Walk sideways down the shore, but don’t face the direction you’re going.

D-9989135: That’s a strange order.

Dr. Bianchi: Just get on with it.

D-9989135: Okay.

(D-9989135 walks sidewise for 10 minutes in complete silence.)

D-9989135: Is there something I’m trying to get to?

Dr. Bianchi: No. Go a bit further, then I’ll give you new instructions.

D-9989135: Okay.

(D-9989135 continues walking for another 12 minutes, and then is given new instructions.)

Dr. Bianchi: You can stop now.

D-9989135: Oh thank god. My legs were starting to hurt.

Dr. Bianchi: Well you’re gonna have to walk some more.

D-9989135: Darn.

Dr. Bianchi: Look in the direction you were walking in.

D-9989135: Wait. I’m at the shore.

Dr. Bianchi: Interesting. Now start walking backwards. And again, don’t look in that direction.

D-9989135: On it.

(D-9989135 starts to walk backwards for 7 minutes before getting exasperated.)

Dr. Bianchi: What’s wrong?

D-9989135: I can hear them. The voices of the damned. They want me to go in.

Dr. Bianchi: Whatever you do, don’t go in the water! That’s an order!

(Heavy breathing and the sound of boots on sand is heard, and then audio cuts.)

Dr. Bianchi: Dammit!

Dr. Bianchi: The camera is working well, proceed forward.

D-9989231: Alright Doc.

Dr. Bianchi: Refer to me as Doctor, not “Doc”.

D-9989231: You got it Doctor.

(D-9989231 proceeds to walk forward. She disappears from view closer than D-9989135. Dr. Bianchi takes not of this.)

D-9989231: Where am I Doctor?

Dr. Bianchi: Aim the camera behind you, but do not look in that direction.

(Camera feed is cut when D-9989231 puts the camera over her shoulder.)

Dr. Bianchi: Huh.

D-9989231: What happened?

(D-9989231 aims camera back at the shore. Camera feed comes back.)

Dr. Bianchi: Don’t worry about it. Aim the camera to the side now. Don’t look.

(Video footage shows the rest of the shore. It seems to go on forever.)

D-9989231: What happens if I look?

Dr. Bianchi: We aren’t sure so don’t do it.

(Camera feed cuts.)

Dr. Bianchi: What did you do?

D-9989231: I turned to the side. How is the shore here too?

Dr. Bianchi: That doesn’t matter.

(Incoherent whispering can be heard.)

Dr. Bianchi: Is there someone else with you?

D-9989231: There are voices. They’re so loud.

Dr. Bianchi: Don’t listen to them. Now try and turn the camera off and then on.

(After a few seconds, camera feed continues.)

Dr. Bianchi: Take the camera and put it in the water, but do not go too deep.

D-9989231: Okay, but when will these voices stop?

Dr. Bianchi: I’m not sure.

(D-9989231 walks towards the shore and puts the camera in the water. Voices are heard. Dr. Bianchi is heard yelling. The camera is removed from the water.)

D-9989231: What h-happened?

Dr. Binachi: The sound was so loud.

D-9989231: What sound?

Dr. Binachi: It doesn’t matter. I will be putting the feed on mute, so I won’t be able to hear you. Put the camera back in the water.

(The feed shows sand.)

Dr. Bianchi: Go further in.

(D-9989231 walks further in. The lake floor is illuminated. A meter ahead of him, there is a drop off. D-9989231 reaches said drop off.)

Dr. Bianchi: Stop.

(The camera shows a group of 8 murky entities chained to the lake floor.)

Dr. Bianchi: Walk back to shore.

(D-9989231 doesn’t move. The camera is taken out of the water, and a wave is shown rushing at D-9989231.)

Dr. Bianchi: This is a direct order! Move now!

(After a few moments, the wave hits the shore, and the video feed cuts.)

Dr. Bianchi: We have to figure out what’s going on here.

We have to figure out what’s going on here. There are people in there. And from what D-9989231 said, they may have sentience. We have to figure out a way to get in and get them out. We have to go in. We have to find out what IT is.
