Special Containment Procedures: Due to SCP-XXXX’s anomalous memetic nature, all information about SCP-XXXX must be held from the public eye. In the case of an information leak, the source is immediately ordered to be terminated, and the area of the information leak must be quarantined. Despite the fact that viewing SCP-XXXX has a 100% mortality rate, all individuals that view it will have to be terminated, due to SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-1's effects.

All individuals titled as SCP-XXXX-1 or SCP-XXXX-2 are to be immediately terminated under the Silver Moon protocol.

Description: SCP-XXXX’s designation belongs to the 80th known moon belonging to the fifth planet of our solar system, Jupiter. SCP-XXXX is the second closest moon to Jupiter, being only about 651 million kilometers away. This satellite is confirmed to have a radius of exactly 2000 kilometers with perfect curvature and smoothness. The makeup of SCP-XXXX is observed to be of a mirrorlike hue, but the chemical composition of the object is currently unknown.

Testing on SCP-XXXX revealed that the satellite appeared in 1920 through unknown reasons, but is only visible from the earth for one day every 32 years. Due to this fact, most of the recorded deaths caused by SCP-XXXX happened in 2016. However, next time it is visible, it will be visible for the span of a year.

When individuals are viewing SCP-XXXX for more than about 30 seconds, no matter the distance or how little they can see, they will enter a state called, “Silver Sleep”. The subjects will enter a comatose-like state for a recorded amount of 6 hours to 115 days. When this happens, the individual will be classified as an instance of SCP-XXXX-1, and will immediately be ordered for termination. When they wake up, they will generally then be classified as SCP-XXXX-2 in the next minute, except in one instance.

Addendum XXXX.1: The following is a list of incidents found to have taken place on 12/12/2016. It is assumed that incidents like these took place exactly 32 years before this.

SCP-XXXX - Silver Sleep Event - Instance 1

Subject: Henry Augustus, male, 45.
Procedure: Subject was found in an unnamed field in central Kansas, while in the Silver Sleep state. He was picked up by the Foundation 35 days after he was estimated to have entered the state. He was presumed to be stargazing when he entered the state, due to the planet entering his vision.
Results: Subject woke up from Silver Sleep, and due to currently unknown reasons, proceeded to violently disembowel 3 nearby personnel with his nails, then slam his head against the wall until he was dead.
Analysis: Subject was tested for causes of insanity, nothing was found.

SCP-XXXX - Silver Sleep Event - Instance 2

Subject: Rickwon Washburn, male, 26.
Procedure: Subject was found in Silver Sleep state, in the residence of his home. Subject lived in Wamego, Kansas, as a NASA engineer. This individual was using a telescope while observing Jupiter, thus resulting in his former condition. They were taken in and observed by one D-Class personnel for 115 days.
Results: Subject woke up, clawed the D-Class personnel’s facial region until they died from blood loss, then slammed his head against the floor until he died.
Analysis: Dr. Flores, head of the SCP-XXXX deaths at the time, ordered for all instances of SCP-XXXX-1 to be contained, and all instances of SCP-XXXX-2 to be terminated.

SCP-XXXX - Silver Sleep Event - Instance 3

Subject: Ashlynn Reeves, female, 12.
Procedure: Subject was found neutralized by police officers after transitioning to SCP-XXXX-2. The subject was presumed to be looking out her window when she entered Silver Sleep, and only entered the state for 7 hours. She awake as SCP-XXXX-2, and proceeded to murder 27 people in her apartment building before being terminated by the local police force.
Results: Subjects corpse was shipped to the nearest site and tested on for anomalous nature.
Analysis: The foundation ordered for all instances of SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 to be terminated. This protocol is named "Silver Moon".

SCP-XXXX - Silver Sleep Event - Instance 4

Subject: 249 people aboard the S.S. Chimney, 123 male, 126 female, ages 6-72.
Procedure: Subjects saw the reflection of SCP-XXXX on the ocean water when on a cruise. Once one subject entered Silver Sleep, the rest followed. All subjects were still classified as SCP-XXXX-1 when the ship was located in the southern pacific ocean.
Results: The Foundation terminated all instances of SCP-XXXX-1 before they converted to SCP-XXXX-2.
Analysis: Due to the lethality and the uncontainable properties of SCP-XXXX, it's object class was moved to Keter.

SCP-XXXX - Silver Sleep Event - Instance 5

Subject: Dr. Jacob Kennith, male, 28. The subject had worked under the Foundation for 6 years.
Procedure: Personnel was found in Silver Sleep though unknown reasons, but it was estimated that he fell into the state when he saw it through a window during the daytime. They were not terminated by the Foundation due to him waking up in 6 hours. When the subject awoke, they had not transitioned into SCP-XXXX-2, but still attacked the personnel around them. He started shouting unknown language but was promptly under control. He was imprisoned in a containment cell for safety, until further notice.
Results: An interview was conducted approximately 1 minute before he transitioned into SCP-XXXX-2 and proceeded to kill Dr. Flores with a broken shard of glass.

Addendum XXXX.2: A recording was found on 11/12/2016, showing footage of SCP-XXXX. A civilian found it attached to a video camera, and was found in the Silver Sleep state. The contents of the camera have no other footage besides the shots of the sky that contain SCP-XXXX. Once it was confirmed that the subject had been identified as SCP-XXXX, they were neutralized and the footage was taken in for further testing as a memetic hazard. The footage tape was then labeled as SCP-XXXX-R.

Addendum XXXX.3: The following are controlled tests done by the Foundation to observe SCP-XXXX's anomalous abilities. Protocol Silver Moon was lifted at the site it was controlled in for a brief period under Dr. Flores's authority.

SCP-XXXX - Silver Sleep Event - Test 1

Subject: One D-Class personnel.
Procedure: Subject was placed in a containment cell and ordered to look SCP-XXXX-R through a computer screen.
Results: Subject went into Silver Sleep merely seconds after SCP-XXXX was visible. They stayed as SCP-XXXX for about 62 hours. Once they awoke, they immediately started grabbing at their flesh, ripping at their skin until they died due to blood loss.

SCP-XXXX - Silver Sleep Event - Test 2

Subject: One D-Class personnel watching SCP-XXXX-R, and one D-Class personnel across from them.
Procedure: Subject was to watch the recording, while the other subject was to watch the body until it awoke. Any escape attempts, as SCP-XXX-2 or not, would result in immediate termination.
Results: The first D-Class personnel went into Silver Sleep easily through SCP-XXXX-R, and the second subject did indeed watch SCP-XXXX-1 until it awoke. SCP-XXXX-1 immediately converted into SCP-XXXX-2, then ripped open the other subject's ribcage in half. The remaining subject then beat itself with its fists until it died.

SCP-XXXX - Silver Sleep Event - Test 3

Subject: One mountain goat.
Procedure: Subject was to watch SCP-XXXX-R by the same means as the D-Class personnel. Any escape attempts, as SCP-XXX-2 or not, would result in immediate termination.
Results: The subject did watch the tape and enter Silver Sleep, but quickly died after that while still in the state.

SCP-XXXX - Silver Sleep Event - Test 3

Subject: Two D-Class personnel.
Procedure: Both subjects were to watch SCP-XXXX-R. Any escape attempts, as SCP-XXX-2 or not, would result in immediate termination.
Results: Both subjects went into Silver Sleep, however, upon awakening and transitioning to SCP-XXXX-2, they violently breached containment and caused 27 deaths.

Addendum XXXX.4: The following interview took place before the SCP-XXXX-1/SCP-XXXX-2 termination notice was issued.

Interviewer: Dr. Reese Flores

Dr. Flores Good evening, Jacob. Are you feeling well?

Dr. Kennith Yeah, A little thirsty I guess.

Dr. Flores Very well, are you prepared for the interview?

Dr. Kennith Yeah, I’m fine. A little tired, but fine.

Dr. Flores Now, to start off, how do you think you entered the… state?

Dr. Kennith Silver Sleep. That’s what they call it. The people who work on SCP-XXXX call it Silver Sleep.

Dr. Flores Yes, How did you enter Silver Sleep?

Dr. Kennith I can’t really remember. I think I was looking out a window, early in the morning. I had just got here, and then I… (Dr. Kennith hesitates)… well, I entered Silver Sleep.

Dr. Flores Interesting. You told a couple of other personnel that you saw something during the dream, yes? What did you see?

Dr. Kennith Well, it’s kinda surreal. Y’know how in dreams you can’t remember what happened a lot, and the whole structure of the dream is realigned? Well, that never happened. I can remember it almost perfectly. Initially, I want to say that it isn’t a moon. Well, it is, but it’s not… inanimate. It spoke to me, I saw it. All that was around me was darkness, except the silver ball. I could see myself in the reflection. It asked me my name, and if I “didn’t want to die”. I answered no, but I don’t think I had a choice. It asked why, but I didn’t answer. It said that everyone will not fear death. Obviously I was confused.

Dr. Flores That thing you said earlier, before the interview, why did you say that?

Dr. Kennith Yes, well, I’ll get to that point. I asked why we would all not fear death, and it responded. It said that is was “Gathering”, and once it gathered enough, it could stay longer. A whole year, it said, but that might be a while.

Dr. Flores Well, I guess we have some time, then. At least that’s good.

Dr. Kennith Yeah. I was thinking earlier, why didn’t I turn into SCP-XXXX-2?

Dr. Flores Those reasons are currently unknown, for now. Maybe if you said yes when he asked you if you fear death?

Dr. Kennith Maybe, I guess. Hey, can I get a glass of water?

Dr. Flores After the interview.

Dr. Kennith Very well.

Dr. Flores I want to ask you a couple more things, what did you see when you woke up?

Dr. Kennith I saw people, I guess. But one of them was strange. They looked like someone I knew, but they looked… wrong. Like I had to attack them. Something must have come over me. I don't really know what happened.

Dr. Flores Understandable. (Shuffling papers) One last thing, do you have any… theories on what happened?

Dr. Kennith I don't really have anything else that would help, I think. I don't have any theories, which is kind of strange considering that's all I've been thinking about. Also, I just happened to get really goddamn thirsty right now. It feels like my mouth is sandpaper.

Dr. Flores We'll get you that glass of water in a little bit. Before we end this interview, I need to ask you if there are any hints you can give us about it.

Dr. Kennith I told you, I have no idea. My guess is that if I accepted his question, I would have gone insane. Or maybe replaced? Like a body switch type of thing?

Dr. Flores Our research team will be on it.

Dr. Kennith (Mumbles some language, currently unknown. Dr. Flores doesn't seem to notice Dr.Kennith speaking)

Dr. Flores The interview has concluded, I guess.

Dr. Kennith May I have my glass of water?

Dr. Flores Yes, I'll get you one.

Closing Statement: Dr. Kennith and Dr. Flores both exited the interview log room. Dr. Kennith, upon leaving the room, transitioned into SCP-XXXX and killed 3 personnel, including Dr. Flores. Dr. Ludwig, a researcher on the project, was then put in charge of SCP-XXXX due to his clearance level. He later issued the Silver Moon procedure.
