Special Containment Procedures: SCP-6990 is a nebula and therefore cannot be contained. The current status of the source of the waves is still unknown. The source will be the new SCP-6995 if we find its location.

Description: SCP-6990 is the Helix Nebuala, approximately 700 light-years away from Earth. Even though it was discovered in 1824, it’s only had anomalous properties since 2099. When any human views SCP-6990 for a certain amount of time, they are reported to have gained the answer to almost any question they have, with these questions almost always relating to questions about the universe. Examples of things that were first learned have been listed below.

There will be other planets containing life throughout the lifetime of the universe, and Earth will not be the only planet to contain life throughout the life of the whole universe.
Black holes do exist and should no longer be theoretical by this point.
A planet with the properties of the theorized Planet Nine does exist somewhere in the universe.
White Holes have a better chance of existing than we thought.
The moon has at least 1% of rocks that were once part of Earth.
The unknown electromagnetic signal on August 10th, 2047 was, in fact, from [REDACTED], meaning every [REDACTED] could possibly be [REDACTED].
However, the strangest piece of information was that SCP-6990 said that the Horsehead Nebula had anomalous properties.

Update: This has been confirmed to be true, and the Horsehead Nebula will be titled SCP-6991.

The above was learned when SCP-6990 first performed its anomalous properties. Data that’s learned varies between each human, and data varies between how big of a question something was. Those who look at SCP-6990 now usually learn the answers to questions not as mind blowing as the first answers, but are still pretty useful, such as where to look for the next interesting space object or where someone lost something here on Earth.

The strangest, and perhaps creepiest, part of SCP-6990 is its tendencies to pinpoint the exact location of anyone who has committed at least one of two of the seven deadly sins, those two sins being Wrath (represented with the color red, or the “pupil” of SCP-6990) and Envy (represented with the color green, or the rest of SCP-6990). It should be noted that SCP-6990 can only keep track of one person at a time. Whoever it’s tracking will see a hallucination of SCP-6990 (called SCP-6990-B) that will appear directly above Earth during the night, hovering about 600 kilometers from Earth’s surface. SCP-6990-B will change appearance depending on which sins the tracked committed. If they only did Wrath, then only the pupil will appear. If they only did Envy, then only the “eye socket” will appear. However, if the tracked did both, then the entirety of SCP-6990-B will be visible to the tracked. If the tracked genuinely wants forgiveness for the sins, then SCP-6990-B will vanish from the former tracked’s sight. How SCP-6990-B chooses who to track doesn’t appear to have any relations to whether or not the tracked has actually committed a crime, and the tracked has almost never been revealed to kill, and if it DOES find someone who’s killed, then it’s theorized that it was simply a coincidence and that SCP-6990-B doesn’t seek out people who kill.
