Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXX poses no immediate risk to personnel. It should be noted that due to its unique and aberrant functions, special measures should be taken to restrict access and use of the object outside of approved testing. At least one Level 3 personnel must be present at the time of this item’s removal, handling, and use. Typically, the item is to be kept in a locked glass case or other secure container that can only be opened by authorized personnel.
Description: In appearance, SCP-XXX resembles an ornate pocket watch with the common characteristics typically displayed by most pocket watches manufactured and produced in the 16th century. Based on standardized measurement charts for such items, SCP-XXX is classified as 36s (36 size). The item’s signature features include a faded gold casing that displays a few scratches along with black roman numerals that circle around the white face. Atop the watch case is a winding crown which is hooked to a golden chain. When not in use, the hour and minute hands on the face are at rest on the VII (12:00). Unless the watch is wound or in use, these hands never move. An inscription has been located on the back of the watch reading; “TEMPUS NEMINEM MANET”. In Latin, this translates to; “Time waits for no man”.
SCP-XXX displays the ability to either accelerate or even reverse the aging process of the entity holding it, depending on how it’s used. The secret to accessing this ability resides in the winding crown. Typically, the crown is locked in place, however, should the crown be pulled up with a modicum of force, it will unlock and allow the user to wind the clock hands either forward or backward. Manipulating the crown is the only way to alter the time displayed on the watch face.
Should the user of SCP-XXX wish to advance the age of their body, all they need do is wind the crown clockwise by however many minutes they desire. According to previous tests, it seems that one minute on the clock face equals roughly one year. So, if the user would like to age thirty years, all they need do is wind the watch from its default setting (12:00) to its new setting of 12:30. This only works because compared to the default time, 12:30 is 30 min in the future, which will cause the user to age 30 years upon use. Once the desired time is set, the user will then press the crown back down, locking it in place. At this point, a golden glow will envelope the user as their body visibly ages thirty years in a matter of moments. As the body changes, the hands of the watch will return to their default position (12:00).
Should the user of SCP-XXX wish to reverse the age of their body, they should wind the crown counter-clockwise. Should the user wish to reverse their age by thirty years, all they need do is wind the clock back from 12:00 to 11:30 and press the crown.
Additional Notes: It has been found through experimentation that should the watch’s user unlock the crown without winding the hands in either direction, the crown can be locked back in place without affecting the user. All attempts to access the inner-workings of the watch have failed. It was also discovered by a researcher that should the watch be too roughly handled, it can sustain physical damage. Thus, utmost care is recommended while the object is in use.
Test Log
Test 001: SCP-XXX was wound by supervising personnel, starting from its default time (12:00), until it read 10:00, a difference of -120 minutes. This would ensure that the subject would have their aging process reversed by 120 years upon activation. D-Class subject was stripped of all clothing and ordered to sit in a chair with the watch laying on the table in front of him. The subject was then ordered to lock the crown in place, which he did. Immediately, the hands of the watch began to return to their default position and the subject’s body, surrounded by a golden glow, began to change. The subject’s body reversed its aging process as expected, going from middle-aged adult to young adult, to teenager, to preteen, to child, to toddler, to baby, to fetus before seemingly vanishing completely. Upon further, micro-inspections of the test site, it became clear that a recently fertilized human egg cell was found on the chair in the testing chamber. DNA tests proved that the genetic material of the fertilized egg matched that of the D-Class subject.
Test 002: SCP-XXX was wound by supervising personnel, starting from its default time (12:00), until it read 2:00, a difference of +120 minutes. This would ensure that the subject would have their aging process accelerated by 120 years upon activation. D-Class subject was stripped of all clothing and ordered to follow the same procedures outlined in Test 001. Upon activation, the subject’s body began to age to the point of his skin eventually turning gray and disintegrating, as did his muscles, organs, blood, and muscles, leaving only a skeleton behind. Before the test had resolved, even his skeleton had turned to dust along with the rest of his body.
Test 003: SCP-XXX was wound by supervising personnel, starting from its default time (12:00), until it read 12:25, a difference of +25 minutes. This would ensure that the subject would have their aging process accelerated by 25 years upon activation. This time, two naked D-Class subjects, Subject A and Subject B, were told to hold hands until the test was complete. As Subject A activated the item, his body aged a total of 25 years. Subject B, despite maintaining physical contact with Subject A during the procedure, remained unaffected.
Test 004: SCP-XXX was wound by supervising personnel, starting from its default time (12:00), until it read 11:15, a difference of -45 minutes. This would ensure that the subject would have their aging process reversed by 45 years upon activation. For this experiment, Subject A, whose aging had already been accelerated in Test 003, was chosen as a test subject in an attempt to see whether or not the item can be safely used twice by the same person. Upon activating the item, Subject A’s aging process reversed by 25 years. Directly after the procedure, Subject A became immobile, falling to the ground and entering a near catatonic state. Unable to move, he could only manage to repeat the phrase: “Langol mangle, hangle tangle”. Whether or not this phrase has any meaning, has yet to be discovered. Subject A died soon after due to medical complications.
Additional Note: Dr. (REDACTED) believes that if enough time is alotted between uses, SCP-XXX may potentially allow a human to stave off the expiration of their body indefinitely via the watch’s de-aging function. Future notes will be made available to the O5 council after said tests are complete.
Test 005: SCP-XXX was wound by supervising personnel, starting from its default time (12:00), until it read read 11:55, a difference of -5 minutes. This would ensure that the subject would have their aging process reversed by 5 years. It should be noted that the subject, in a previous experiment involving SCP-(REDACTED), had broken his harm seven months ago. While the subject’s body did become five years younger, after examination, it was discovered the break in his arm was still present and remained unaffected.
Test 006: SCP-XXX was wound by supervising personnel, starting from its default time (12:00), until it read 11:45, a difference of -15 minutes. This would ensure the subject would have their aging process reversed by 15 years. The subject, an adult orangutan, was heavily restrained during this procedure. A mechanical device was also attached to the subject’s hand that would force it to press the crown when needed. Upon activation, the subject’s aging process was reversed by 15 years. Recommended: further tests on non-primate organisms.
