Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: Due to SCP-XXXX-1 and its inhabitants' apparent inability to affect the real world, containment procedures generally focus on keeping the local civilian population away from SCP-XXXX. Roads leading towards SCP-XXXX are to be blocked off and guarded. A basic barbed wire perimeter fence has been erected within a 1 km radius of SCP-XXXX, and is to be guarded and maintained 24/7. In the event of a containment breach, the perpetrator(s) are to be promptly apprehended, administered Class-A amnestics, and released outside the nearest town.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a small lake located in a heavily wooded forest near ████████, Montana. At surface level, SCP-XXXX appears to be an ordinary lake, with no observable anomalous effects. However, at approximately 6 m down, there is a thick cloud of unidentified composition approximately 12 m thick. The area past this cloud, henceforth referred to as SCP-XXXX-1, is a seemingly endless void of water with no landforms visible whatsoever. SCP-XXXX-1 is completely devoid of light, likely to be a result of the thick sand cloud blocking the only source of natural light.
There are unconfirmed reports of a creature inhabiting the deeper portions of SCP-XXXX-1, hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-2, although no scans suggest any sentient life living within SCP-XXXX-1. Further exploration is required (See Addendum XXXX.1 for further details)
SCP-XXXX first came to the Foundation's attention after rumor spread of a bottomless lake somewhere near ████████. Soon after, local agents were dispatched to confirm the rumor and pinpoint the location of SCP-XXXX.
Attempts to tunnel into SCP-XXXX-1 without going through SCP-XXXX prove to be unsuccessful, with the only way into SCP-XXXX-1 appearing to be by diving into SCP-XXXX itself. This leads some researchers to hypothesize that SCP-XXXX-1 may actually be an alternate dimension with the only known entrance being SCP-XXXX
