Special Containment Procedures: Public entrances to [REDACTED] forest containing instances of SCP-XXXX have been cordoned off, with signs warning of quarry mining and controlled explosions placed along the perimeter of the forest. Motion sensors have been installed on-site to monitor for trespassers with regular patrols by foundation personnel posing as private security. In the event of unauthorised entry into the forest, foundation personnel are to escort the trespassers off premises. Any trespassers found by foundation personnel to be in possession of prohibited items are to be terminated and a report filed to Dr. [][][][][][] immediately.

Axes, chainsaws or any other kind of felling equipment are strictly prohibited to be brought within the outlined perimeter of [REDACTED] forest. Felling of an entity of SCP-XXXX, as well as insertion and retrieval of prohibited items within the perimeter is to be performed by D-class personnel and requires prior approval from Dr. [][][][][][].

Description: SCP-XXXX is a species of tree which can be found in [REDACTED] forest in southwestern Scotland. There are currently 48 known instances of SCP-XXXX, with each instance labelled SCP-XXXX-1 through SCP-XXXX-48. SCP-XXXX instances bare close resemblance to the common beech tree (Fagus Sylvatica) however, physical inspection of a member of the species, through either removal of bark or through felling, reveals the internal structure of the tree to be hollow. Internally, support is provided by titanium trusses. Sporadically placed wires can be found running the full length of the trunk within the hollow cavity. These wires descend into a titanium box located near the base of the tree. The box is unmarked save for a single female -RS-232- USB type-A interface present on one of the outwards-oriented faces of the box.

Addendum: SCP-XXXX is seemingly able to adapt itself to current technological standards. On []/[]/1999, RS-232 ports present on known instances of SCP-XXXX had transformed into USB ports. The nature of this transformation is unknown.

Inserting a USB drive into SCP-XXXX will cause a single .txt file to be transferred to the root directory of the drive if sufficient space is available. If the USB drive is removed and re-inserted, another file may be placed on the drive. Contained in these files are what appear to be transcriptions. Analysis and cross referencing of these files reveals that the transcriptions were taken from past conversations between various individuals in the vicinity of SCP-XXXX. The contents of these conversations reveal the presence of a entity, hereby designated SCP-XXXX-0. The earliest transcription found on an instance of SCP-XXXX dates back to []/[]/196[].

SCP-XXXX-0 is a hostile entity which can be brought to materialise through bringing any kind of felling equipment (such as chainsaws or axes) within the proximity of an instance of SCP-XXXX. Materialisation of SCP-XXXX-0 is estimated to take place around 1 to 3 minutes after felling equipment is brought within proximity. Once aggravated, SCP-XXXX-0 will hunt and eliminate any individuals carrying the felling equipment as well as any accomplices. Based on transcripts retrieved from instances of SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX-0 takes on the appearance of a bipedal wolf with an estimated height of at least 2 metres tall. SCP-XXXX-0 leaves behind zero remains, and as such the mode of killing as well as the physiological properties of SCP-XXXX-0 remain difficult to ascertain. Motives for SCP-XXXX-0 are thought to be that of self-preservation. However the motive for SCP-XXXX to store transcripts of it’s victims, and the presence of a USB interface, is less clear. One prominent hypothesis is that instances of SCP-XXXX collect samples of data from those it perceives as a threat to build up and learn from a compiled character profile.

Due to the fatal nature of felling instances of SCP-XXXX, only 6 files have been retrieved from 3 instances so far. File designation is to be of the form SCP-XXXX-[#Instance]-[#File]. The current files in possession by the foundation are:

- SCP-XXXX-1-1 — ‘abouttime.txt’
- SCP-XXXX-1-2 — ‘wecansee.txt’
- SCP-XXXX-12-1 — ‘hallowedground.txt’
- SCP-XXXX-12-2 — ‘thisisit.txt’
- SCP-XXXX-12-3 — ‘onthinice.txt’
- SCP-XXXX-41-1 — ‘playthegame.txt’

SCP-XXXX instances have been known to produce seeds, and various stages of the life cycle of Fagus Sylvatica have been observed in numerous SCP-XXXX instances. As such, it is reasonable to assume that SCP-XXXX can reproduce and that other instances of SCP-XXXX exist outside [REDACTED] forest. It is therefore imperative that the Foundation act accordingly to prevent the spread of SCP-XXXX instances beyond [REDACTED] forest.

SCP-XXXX-1-1 — ‘abouttime.txt’ — (For clarity, the transcript was amended to include Dr [][][][][][])

[‘Okay, testing, testing, this is Dr.[][][][][][], can you hear me D-6811?]

A) ‘Loud and clear, Doc.’

[‘Fantastic, alright, what I’m to ask you to do is very simple. In the suitcase we provided you with there is an axe, I want you to take out that axe and leave the suitcase on the floor.’]

A) ‘You just want me take this axe out?’

[‘Correct, D-6811.’]

A) ‘I got the axe, now what?’

[‘Great, if you look ahead, you will see a length of red tape leading through the forest. I want you to follow this red tape until you reach a tree marked with green tape. Make sure to take the axe with you.’]

A) ‘Okay, I’m heading off now, just follow the red tape?’

[‘Correct. Please describe any unusual sightings you may witness.’]

A) ‘Wait what’s gonna happen?’

[‘Potential visual hallucinations, we want you to describe anything you might witness.’]

A) ‘Then what’s with the axe?’

[‘Think of it as a catalyst.’]

A) ‘What?’

[‘Please focus on the task D-6811, any unusual stimuli?’]

A) ‘Nothing yet, what am I expecting to see?’

[‘We don’t know, that’s why we’re here.’]

A) ‘Okay, I’m at the tree.’

[‘Good job, please remain at that location and continue to scan your surroundings for unusual activity.’]

A) ‘I don’t feel good about this’

[‘Standby, please report in to describe any unusual sightings’]

A) ‘Doc, I saw something, like a black shadow on the horizon’

[‘Do you still have visual on this shadow?’]

A) ‘Yeah, it’s coming right towards me, what the hell is that?’

[‘Can you tell us anything else?’]

A) Yeah it’s like big, real big, and it ain’t human’

[‘Any guesses as to it’s nature?’]

A) ‘You ever heard of a werewolf doc? Kinda like that’

[‘Noted, any further descriptions?’]

A) ‘Are you sure this thing is harmless? It’s pacing right towards me’

[‘Yes, please describe the creature further’]

A) ‘Ah shit it’s running, ah FUCK’

[‘D-6811, come in, are you there?’]

SCP-XXXX-12-1 — ‘hallowedground.txt’
A) ‘You wouldn’t know much about round ‘ere ya flagellin’ wee thing’

B) ‘Aye right I would, spent many a day round ere with me lass’

A) ‘Forget it, we’re lost and am pretty sure that it weren’t my idea to try take a shortcut, now we’re in the middle of bleeding nowhere’

B) ‘Pipe down, this place ain’t that big. Besides we’ve got no rush anyhoo, me pa said that Donny has set up by the quarry. It’s hard to miss a fucking quarry’

A) ‘Aye and Donnys got the tents, the supplies, it’s nearly sundown and we ain’t got a wee clue where we are and all we’ve got is a stove and a wee axe from yer pas old tool shed ’

B) ‘Yeah but…’

A) ‘And another thing, what if you got stitched up by that sweet dearie… what’s her name… that lassie that talked you into this whole thing with Donnie’

B) ‘I know Jade from way back, we can trust her’

A) ‘Yeah right, bet she hasn’t even told ya why Donny and his troops is up here in the first place’

B) ‘Course she has, and we can trust them. Huh, what was that?’

A) ‘What wae what?’

B) ‘I swear down I saw something just beyond the tree line’

A) ‘Hmph, quit trying to change topic. I wanna know what Donny O’Sullivan, of all people, has got us here for’

B) ‘Well ya see, Donny told me something ‘bout this quarry mine here. Couple years back the workers here had to pack up basically all operations and head out, nobody knows why. Yet, the quarry company have got guards in front of the entrance to this tunnel. Think hard Mick, why would they be guarding an old quarry tunnel?’

A) ‘You reckon there’s something good stashed away in that quarry?’

B) ‘Aye I do, well, Donny does, he’s paying us a fair rate anyway and a cut of anything we find in there’

A) ‘Probably just machinery left over that they’ve yet to clear out, you think there’s gonna be a fucking pot of gold in there?’

A) ‘Mate, it’s worth a look, and machinery can fetch a pretty penny’

B) ‘Whatever… but we’re not gonna get paid if we can’t even find the man’

A) ‘Fuck me!’

B) ‘What now?’

A) ‘I saw a fucking dog, I swear, just over there… where’s the axe’

B) ‘“Where’s the axe” he says. Wow, a wee stray dog, I’m pissing myself mate’

A) ‘Shut it, I ain’t got the patience for you right now’

B) ‘Well at least I’m not the one…’

A) ‘FUCK!’

B) ‘Huh?’

A) ‘What the fuck is THAT’

SCP-XXXX-12-2 — ‘thisisit.txt’
A) ‘I wouldn’t put it past those pair of muppets to find their way out of a paper bag y’know’

B) ‘Yeah neither would I, but this is probably where he passed through’

A) ‘He knew where we were, he would’ve passed here for sure.’

B) ‘Did Donny wait long?’

A) ‘Nah. Me, Donny and Skip figured by nightfall that they’d either got cold feet or they’d got drunk and lost. Wee Trev is only 17 after all, Two-can Trev we call him, heh. He’s probably conked out somewhere eating berries and dancing with the fairies’

B) ‘Then what happened’

A) ‘Once the guards left we crawled down the side of the quarry and circled around until we reached the entrance to the tunnel, first thing we noticed was the smell’

B) ‘The smell?’

A) ‘Yeah, smelt like the toilets in the Ship, and the air was warm, would’ve been pleasant if not for the smell’

B) ‘Uh huh, so did you…’

A) ‘Go in? Aye we did, didn’t get very far though’

B) ‘Why’s that?’

A) ‘Further we got in, the harder it was to breathe. The air just became ‘thick’ like treacle, it’s hard to describe. At one point it felt like I had a pair of hands round my neck. Also, our lights kept going out and Skip got spooked hard so we turned around, we must of made it… say… hundred yards before we had to turn around?’

B) ‘Class act from Skip’

A) ‘Aye tell me about it, class A girls blouse that lad’

B) ‘Ahaha’

A) ‘Thing is, when we got to the point where we had to turn around, I took one good look down the tunnel and I could’ve sworn I saw something.’

B) ‘Huh?’

A) ‘Aye it was this glow, like a pair of headlights, but it wasn’t very bright. I chalked it up initially to some kind of truck they had down there and the fumes it was putting off was what made it hard to breathe, but the tunnel was dead silent’

B) ‘It was dark mate, you probably just imagined it’

A) ‘Maybe, the more I think about it the more it don’t make sense. Donny didn’t see a thing and Skip was too scared to even focus on his own breathing let alone anything else.’

B) ‘They probably hit some kind of vent when digging and that’s why they had to pull out, youse are lucky you’re still alive, you could’ve suffocated!’

A) ‘That’s what Donny said.’

B) ‘Are youse… wait… shh…’

A) ‘What?’

B) ‘I heard… a rustling… in the trees’

A) ‘Where’

B) ‘O’er there’

A) ‘Was probably a deer’

B) ‘Henry, if it was a fucking deer, I’d have seen a deer’

A) ‘Fuck it… Hey! Who’se there!? I heard you’

B) ‘Ffffffucks sake Henry what are you doing?’

A) ‘This was probably the cunt who got Trev and Mick, come here ya bastard!’

B) ‘Wait, what the FUCK’

A) ‘FUCK ME’

B) ‘HENRY, THE HELL ARE YOU DOING? OH MY GOD’

SCP-XXXX-12-3 — ‘onthinice.txt’
A) ‘What’s plans for tonight then? Oh hold up…’

B) ‘What is it?’

A) ‘Which way you reckon?’

C) ‘I dunno, stick to the main path mate’

A) ‘Hold on, this path could take us straight to Tommy, would shave about 45 minutes off our trip’

B) ‘Fuck you chatting about? Four cunts have gone missing in this neck of the woods in the past month and you wanna go in there?’

A) ‘Come on, they were Donny’s troops. They probably got hammered and ended up getting lost.’

B) ‘On two separate occasions?’

A) ‘Well look, I’ve got an axe, you’ve got a machete and Al’s got one of those fancy knives, we’ll be reet’

C) ‘Eh… what harm can it do’

B) ‘Al you prick’

A) ‘Come on Elliot mate’

B) ‘….fucks sake’

C) ‘If there is some serial killer around here, we’ll be heroes for scalping him’

A) ‘Exactly. And there isn’t a serial killer, Donny’s boys are thick as pig shite, doesn’t say much if they went missing’

B) ‘Bloody hell mate they could be dead’

A) ‘Did Donny ever say what he saw?’

C) ‘Lad said he saw an alien, haha’

B) ‘Wait what happened?’

C) ‘About a week and a bit after Henry and Mac went missing, Donny and Skip went back to the quarry. He said he wanted to try go deeper into that cave. He thought maybe Henry and Mac had gone in there’

B) ‘How do you know this? I din’t know you was pals’

C) ‘That man talks after a few pints and you hear a lot working behind a bar’

B) ‘Right… but a fucking alien?’

C) ‘That’s what he said. He said something like a ‘tall yellow thing with shining eyes and little arms’. if you asked me, I reckon he picked the wrong mushroom haha’

A) ‘That man is off his rockers, a fucking alien in [][][][][][]’

B) ‘Fucking hell am I hearing this right?’

C) ‘What?’

B) ‘Are youse telling me that in the space of a month, 4 cunts have gone missing around and Donny saw a fucking alien, and you have the audacity to take us deeper into this forest?’

A) ‘Elliot this is Donny we’re chatting about, this is the cunt who legit thought the moon was made of cheese’

B) ‘Yeah but…’

C) ‘Come on lad, it’s chill’

A) ‘What happened to Skip anyway?’

C) ‘Donny said Skip…’

B) ‘Fuck was that?’

C) ‘Fuck was what?’

B) ‘Did you not just hear that?’

A) ‘Nae’

C) ‘What are you on Elliot’

B) ‘It sounded like a howl’

A) ‘Probably the wind you dolt’

B) ‘“The wind”, is this lad serious’

C) ‘Fuck you on about about a howl, wolves don’t exist in Scotland anymore’

A) ‘Yeah so it’s probably just a dog, anyway I need a slash, wait up for me will ya’

C) ‘Nah mate we’re leaving you to the wolf’

A) ‘Haha yeah or the alien!’

B) ‘I swear you two’

C) ‘Chill out Elliot mate, I dunno why you wanted to come out tonight with us if you was just gonna be all pissy’

B) ‘Listen Al, I thought we was gonna be having a wee camp with Tommy and his lot by the loch, not trundling around in the scene of a murder’

C) ‘Yeah but…’

B) ‘Like would it have not hurt just to take the main path?’

C) ‘Look, loads of people have come through here looking for those lads, nothing has happened to them, even Tommy himself went looking for Henry and Mac, that cunt was out here for hours’

B) ‘Hang on, is that why we’re here?’

C) ‘Bloody hell mate of course not, look it’s the middle of summer, would be a crime not to take advantage of these warm nights. I don’t care enough about that lot to go looking for them. That’s the bobbies job, not mine’

B) ‘You’re chatting pure shite, it was your idea that we bring machetes and knives and axes, who the fuck turns up camping with an axe?’

C) ‘To cut trees for firewood you… Hang on a second, where the fuck is Simon’

B) ‘Ah fuck’

C) ‘Simon mate, where’ve you gone?’

B) ‘Simon, stop fucking with us, this isn’t funny’

C) ‘Si… oh fuck me… what the fuck…’

B) ‘What… AH FUCK’

C) ‘RUN’

B) ‘JESUS CHRIST IT’S…’
