A short man entered a large room, eyes glared at him from the semicircle that dominated any empty space.

"Security Commander Perry, a flight carrying SCP-096 has gone down between Site-Gamma and our Arctic Site. We need you to assemble a team to contain the anomaly."

Men instantly began popping into his mind before he finally had an idea.

"Why can't we just send the Nine-Tailed Fox in?"

"Nine-Tailed Fox is currently investigating a site that has gone dark, they will be able to provide reinforcements if needed but until the site is secured, we will have to send another squad."

It finally came to Perry, the man who would be perfect to lead a squad in the containment of this anomaly.

"The squad leaders file has been sent to your devices, I trust this man to lead a squad from Site-08 to contain 096."

The file read:

Name: Lukas Erikson
Rank: Corporal
Service: Alpha Squad disbanded
Wolf Squad disbanded
Team Blue Coalition with GOC, disbanded
Location: Site-08

"These squads all failed or took too many casualties to sustain them, why should this man lead the squad."

"His squadmates have reported his bravery under fire, and there are also reports of him rescuing his squadmates from various anomalies."

The men looked around before a single body rose up from their seat.

"We have decided to activate your squad temporarily."

With that, Peter left the room and headed towards Site-08

Lukas entered the armory, its utilitarian design was a welcoming site after returning from a long hike. More people entered afterward taking their seats around the room before a man with a dark suit entered the room.

“You are probably wondering why I called you here so early. We have a mission for your squad."

A short, chubby man entered the room.

“I’ll take it from here, Director.”

"The O5 council has activated you under the callsign 'The Northern Lights'."

The man pulled out a handkerchief and wiped the pooling sweat from his forehead.

“A Foundation cargo plane went down in a heavily wooded area. Your mission is to recover our assets from that plane and deliver them to the Arctic Site.”

The squad exchanged glances, they had never seen this man before but they couldn't help but notice his clammy hands and sweat covering his forehead.

A member of the squad raised his hand.

“What exactly are we recovering?”

“Some Euclid and Safe Class anomalies, nothing that your squad wouldn't be able to handle.”

The short man picked up his phone and urgently left the room.

Lukas collected his squad members and led them towards the armory. Lukas was always the first in the room and he always spent his free time there. Whether it was cleaning his service rifle, or reading up on squad tactics and SCP files with a high threat for breaching containment.

After gearing up Lukas lead his squad to the vehicle bay for the briefing.

"We will be splitting into two groups once we reach the crash site. The containment group lead by SGT. Oliver will secure the assets and form a defensive perimeter around the plane. I will lead a team to recover the pilots and the black box before moving towards the Arctic Site."

The two groups split up into two light colored vans and began moving towards the plane.

The metallic skeleton of the plane cast a shadow over the squad as they approached it.

The snowy ground was overturned and ablaze and the plane still bled fuel from its wings. A large gash ran across the left side of the plane and a trail of blood leading towards the exposed cargo bay.

"What the fu.."

A loud scream followed by the clanging of the metallic containers filled the ear as the squad clicked off their safety's.

"Group 1 follow me, Group two prepare for whatever might follow us out."

With this announcement, Lukas entered the side door of the plane and began searching deeper into the plane.

Silence filled the cabin as the squad entered the plane. Various boxes were scattered along the floor and a large metal box lay torn open covered in blood. The little light that entered the cabin shrouded the pitch clad unit in darkness.

"Clear the cabin, I'm going to move up to the cockpit."

Lukas was greeted in the cockpit by a loaded pistol and the feared glare of the pilot.

"Can you walk sir, we need to get you out of here."

"Yeah, I think I can."

Screaming filled the cargo hold as Lukas and the pilot began making their way towards the exit.

"Don't look at i.."

Lukas's squadmate was lifted into the air and torn apart before he could get a shot off.

"We have to get to the Van."

Lukas thought about what the pilot said, he secured the asset his mission was over but he couldn't help but think about how much of his squad he would lose.

"Sir!"

Lukas looked again down the cargo hold to another one of his squadmates being thrown into the metal cage that once contained this beast.

He motioned to the pilot to follow him but to keep his head down.

A crackling noise came from Lukas's shoulder.

"Sir we have the anomalies and two injured in need of immediate evac, are we clear to leave the area?"

"You need to take the pilot with you, I will stay behind to secure this anomaly."

"Roger that."

The pilot moved into the van and his remaining squadmates disappeared over the horizon.

Lukas began recovering his injured comrade's bodies he lapped the site multiple times before moving to the edge of the forest. One thing filled his mind, in order for his squad to be safe he had to contain 096.

He looked towards the plane and the sobbing creature that now rested below the wing, covered in a clear, thick liquid.

Lukas and the creature locked eyes as Lukas ran at it and flipped open a lighter before he disappeared into nothing.
