SCP [PENDING]
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP [PENDING] is localized within a 20x20m country crossroads located outside of [REDACTED], Mississippi.
SCP [PENDING] is to be constantly monitored
Entry into containment area after sundown is heavily restricted and requires the explicit permission of on-site director Dr. Robert Johnson.
Civilians within 1 km of SCP[PENDING]-1 after sunset are to be detained until morning, and Class G amnestics are to be administered before release. Disinformation campaigns have been spread in the form of local folklore to place the rumored location of SCP[PENDING] to Rosedale, Mississippi.
Description:
SCP[PENDING]-1 is an anomalous event of unknown origin or mechanism experienced by those inside the bounds of SCP[PENDING]. SCP[PENDING]-1 appears to stop the flow of time outside of the 20x20m containment zone, as those outside the circle notice no change in environment or perception of the reported SCP[PENDING] event. Electronic surveillance equipment, both inside and outside of the containment zone will invariably malfunction and sustain physical damage concurrent with high temperature exposure.
Subjects report a thick blanket of mist quickly forming around them until they attempt to exit the affected zone. Initially, this event was believed to be the extent of SCP[PENDING]’s anomalous properties. Further testing revealed an additional phase of SCP[PENDING]-1 that triggers when the subject is equipped with a musical instrument during an SCP[PENDING]-1 event. This additional phase has been tentatively designated as SCP[PENDING]-1a
SCP[PENDING]-1a refers to the sudden appearance of SCP[PENDING]-2 and SCP[PENDING]-2a during an SCP[PENDING]-1 event. Subjects will initially detect SCP[PENDING]-2 and SCP[PENDING]2a as flickering shadows at the edge of their vision, which gain definition as they approach the subject. Their final corporeal forms are described as follows:
- SCP[PENDING]-2 is described as taking the form of a finely dressed African American male. His height appears to vary between subjects, which is always described approximately 1 meter taller than the test subject (even when the height of the subject would cause SCP[PENDING]-2 to have impossibly large dimensions for a human.). He is noted to speak in a light Creole accent. His other physical attributes seem to vary from subject to subject, with no recognizable pattern.
- SCP[PENDING]-2a is reported to resemble an extremely large canid, closely resembling SCP-023. Research into a relationship between SCP[PENDING]-2a and SCP-023 have been suspended due to [REDACTED].
SCP[PENDING]-2a is noted to display relaxed body language under normal circumstances, and only reacts if the subject attempts to leave the affected zone without SCP[PENDING]-2’s permission or physically harm either SCP[PENDING]-2 or -2a. At that point, SCP[PENDING]-2a will display extremely aggressive behavior and will attempt to incapacitate the subject. Continuation of the offending behavior will result in extreme and often lethal aggressive actions.
‘
After approaching the subject, SCP[PENDING]-2 will offer to tune the instrument (regardless of whether the instrument possesses any such mechanism). In the event the subject accepts the offer, SCP[PENDING]-2 will [REDACTED]. Upon completion of the “tuning” process, SCP[PENDING]-2 will return the instrument to the subject and requests the subject leave SCP[PENDING]-1’s area of effect. Failure to comply with its request will lead to an aggressive response from SCP[PENDING]-2a. SCP[PENDING]2 and SCP[PENDING]2a will then rapidly retreat into the mist and seemingly vanish without a trace. (Refusal results in the same request to vacate and similarly leads to SCP[PENDING]-2 and SCP[PENDING]2a retreating into the mist and disappearing) Any musical instruments used during an SCP[PENDING]1 event show no signs of damage and display remarkable precision and accuracy in tuning seemingly indefinitely.
Upon resolution of an SCP[PENDING]-1 event where an instrument was “tuned”, the affected subject will display virtuosic levels of musicianship and skill, particularly if using the same instrument utilized in their SCP[PENDING]-1 event. It has been noted that nearly all SCP[PENDING]-1 participants have an increased urge to record and distribute music. Recordings of SCP[PENDING]-1 effected individuals have [REDACTED].
Addendum: Participants in a SCP[PENDING]-1 “tuning” event have statistically demonstrated a greatly increased risk of serious bodily harm or violent death after an average of 5 years.
Addendum: Dr. Johnson’s request to re-designate SCP[PENDING]-2a as another instance of SCP-023 has been submitted and is undergoing review.
