Item #: SCP-xxxx

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: : As of Incident xxxx-2, 3 WebComb 16 Artificial Intelligence Systems are to constantly go through the SCP Foundation's digital database, and automatically send a report if they detect SCP-xxxx on any page. If any personnel in any site of the Foundation reads SCP-xxxx, they are to immediately contact their superior and the site will be put into emergency lockdown until the original documents are found.

Description: SCP-xxxx refers to this document, the one you are reading now. SCP-xxxx will enter an active state at random intervals, with the shortest recorded time between activations being twenty(20) days and the longest being six(6) months. When SCP-xxxx activates, it chooses another SCP the foundation is in control of (hereby designated SCP-xxxx-1), and replaces all digital documents of it with a copy of SCP-xxxx, keeping only SCP-xxxx-1's item number the same. SCP-xxxx also replaces all physical documentation that is not under level 4 protection or higher with a copy of SCP-xxxx. The mechanism by which this happens is currently unknown.

When documentation of SCP-xxxx-1 is replaced, all personell assigned to SCP-xxxx-1 research, surveillance, or protection will gradually become disinterested in it and will leave their various posts. Within 2 hours of activation, all personell will be effectively amnesiac when it comes to SCP-xxxx-1. Viewing SCP-777-1's original documents will restore memory of SCP-xxxx-1, and full replacement of original documents will gradually restore memory of SCP-xxxx-1 over the course of 2-4 days. This is currently the only known method of restoring memory of SCP-xxxx-1

Addendum xxxx-1: All attempts to trace the origin of SCP-xxxx have failed for various reasons, including, but not limited to:

  • Personnel failure, injury, and death
  • Equipment failure
  • Bogus results
  • Orders from an Overseer to cease tracing, the Overseer in question oblivious to the order being given
  • Power outage
  • Sabotage by other researchers
  • Containment breaches

Addendum xxxx-2: SCP-xxxx-1 can be edited by anyone who could edit a non-anomalous SCP document, with the exception of removing any information that is needed to know the nature of SCP-xxxx. Attempts to do this have met with immediate natural death of personnel by myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, stroke, shock, and total organ failure.
