SCP-7138 - Baby Kraken Smallpox
MTF Juliet-15 at its initial disposal in the Bay of Bengal.
Special Containment Procedures: Any instance of SCP-7138 is to be contained in a 35x65x10cm brass suitcase placed inside of 5x5x5m zincified and hermetically sealed room located at Site 238. Any instance of SCP-7138 and Site 238 is to be monitored every twenty-four (24) hours remotely from Site 238-A. Any instance of SCP-7138 and SCP-7138-1 is to be contained in MSD-6 moisture classified, zincified 3x3x3m room. Any of SCP-7138-containing rooms are to be equipped with 10kg of C4 charges with the detonator placed inside of Site 238-A. The detonation is only possible by Level 5 Class Staff Members with approval given by O5 Council (see Addendum 2 for the trivia).
The rooms containing SCP-7138 are to be monitored on a daily basis and its entrance is to be guarded by at least four (4) guards equipped with firearms. Room access is only to be given by two (2) Level 4 Personnel. Room visitors are to be equipped with a brass-plated hazmat suit to prevent SCP-7138’s containment breach. Any unauthorized access to SCP-7138 or dehermetization attempt is to be terminated by the authorized staff members, including assigned guards at all costs.
Due to SCP-7138’s nature in saline water, the 5000 square meters epicentre, hereafter designated as the Salmon Zone is to be monitored and exterminated by Foundation Personnel posing as Bangladesh Navy to draw any unnecessary attention away. Each vessel patrolling the Salmon Zone is to be equipped with 5cm brass shields from both sides and a brass sonobuoy to monitor the activity of SCP-7138.
All instances of SCP-7138-1 are to be terminated through cremation in an MSD-6 moisture classified furnace to prevent a containment breach and further spread of SCP-7138.
The best micrography of SCP-7138 available.
Description: SCP-7138 refers to a Poxviridae family, closest to the Molluscipoxvirus genus virus. Further micrographics and microscope studies appeared to be ineffective as SCP-7138 either inevitably damaged such devices or spread itself through the aforementioned devices to manifest inside of the closest lifeform, preferably humans, hereafter designated as SCP-7138-1.
SCP-7138-1-████’s lips exposed to SCP-7138 during Stage III.
The virus has shown to be very adapted to exposure to high and low temperatures, as well as chemical antidotes designed specifically for SCP-████. The only known substance effectively persuading SCP-7138’s activity is zinc and any zinc-containing metals, including brass. No cure has been found for SCP-7138 due to the aforementioned species research difficulties. However, there have been anti-viral procedures discovered that stop SCP-7138’s spread during Stage I and initial containment breach (See Addendum 1 for more information).
The virus evolves inside of a human’s organism within 180 hours through five (5) stages, hereafter designated as I - V:
| # of stage | Manifestation time | Symptoms | Addendum |
| I | 0h - 12h | No symptoms are to be discovered by neither SCP-7138-1 nor the DNA monitoring devices. | For now, Stage I is the only Stage to have known a cure therapy. Further Stages’ cure is to be found. |
| II | 12h - 48h | SCP-7138-1 is to be manifesting its first symptoms: fever, vertigo, high temperature and increased humidity level. Severe pain in later exposed body parts is also discovered. | See Stage III for further explanations. |
| III | 48h - 180h | SCP-7138-1 is to be manifesting its visual symptoms: lips, palms and cheeks of the exposed person are to cover with adhesive warts, visually resembling tentacle suckers. The measured diameter of such warts varies from 5x5mm to ██x██mm. Increased sweating is also a symptom of SCP-7138 during Stage III. | Stage III is said to be the most active stage of SCP-7138 due to numerous symptoms’ manifestation and their spread. |
| IV | >180h | 85% of SCP-7138-1’s body is being covered by warts along with body temperature slowly decreasing to ~35°C (93°F). | The record low temperature of SCP-7138-1 was ██°C (██°F ) albeit it is physically not possible to keep a human alive with such low body temperature. |
| V | [DATA EXPUNGED] | [DATA EXPUNGED], followed by respiratory arrest and death. | [DATA EXPUNGED] |
SCP-7138 has been initially discovered in 06/29/20██ when a group of Lankan sailors returned from a month-long cruise in the Indian Ocean, having Stage II symptoms of SCP-7138. After numerous reports of currently unknown maritime disease in local media, The Foundation requested MTF Juliet-15 (Kraken Hunters) to investigate the situation in Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte. With ████ cases registered, all non-infected witnesses were given Class C amnestics. All SCP-7138-exposed lifeforms were delivered to Site 238 to be studied and contained.
