Chapter 1
A New Perspective

Well here I am. All that’s left is to tell you my story, then my “dismissal”.
It started in the street market downtown. I was looking at the wares absentmindedly, completely minding my own business. When this guy, some man I don’t even know. He was all shabby and disheveled looking almost gray. You know what I mean?
Anyway he comes up to me and says, “things are about to get real bad” and put this little box with a blue button on it in my hand.
Oh sorry yeah back on topic. I suddenly heard a terrible ratcheting sound but it sounded; huge or far off or both. Then came the smoke a terrible suffocating smoke, trailed only slightly by those horrific screams.
Then it came into view. The living mountain. Some called it a god others an animate machine, but it was indescribable.
It seemed the whole world had come to fight it. Foundation reality benders and other assets. The GOC and U.N. With the power of the nations to bare. Also the serpents hand and I could have sworn I saw a giant bird flying into the sun. But I digress. There I was it was the end. Not the end of the fight, but the end of the world. And I watched as it lurched and slithered and slid towards me consuming everything in its path.
Suddenly I felt a warm tingle in my palm, it was the cube. I had forgotten completely about it. The button was glowing an almost neon blue and under it read: “colonization game set (space edition).”
So I pressed it, and here I am. Answering questions about… what did you call it? 2399?
Well “I believe” the gray man knows more than me.

Chapter 1
A New Perspective

Excerpt: (writings of );
eyes open from the dark of night to discover naught but a single visage of light; a very fine man, as fine as any I had met.
But the clothes of his of his breast were finer yet, giving a sense of unease and unrest.
Cloth and fabric of reality’s fill; firmament and life yet nothing still.
There he stood in Solemn silence, as you would expect a light in defiance.
He said nothing, for no voice did he have, but still he produced; a quill, ink well, and note pad.

A message he did scribble and he did it real quick, the message was for me, and here’s what he had writ,
well hello there! you have found yourself the very first; and last in the Dr. line of “real” fun time pals. Shall we begin?

Chapter 1
A New Perspective

Scene opens: (a heavily forested area in up state view pans in on a kid walking down a dirt road.)

Kid: (talking to its self) man I wish there was anything to do. Heck even school would be fun if they hadn’t closed it because of…

(A man is suddenly leaning against a tree as the kid passes.)

Kid: ( kid jumps from surprise.) Hey mister where did you come from? I’m sure I was alone.
Man: (straightens himself on the path, and tugs the lapels of his coat.) I’m quite sure you were as well. But I heard you talking and decided I might be able to add substance to your conversation.

Kid: you got a funny way of talking… (looks the man down and up.) and dressing, but somebody to talk to is better than no one to talk to. (It says looking at its feet shuffling pebbles around.)

Man: now that’s enough of that!( he pats the child’s head, turning on his heels in the direction the kid was headed he begins to walk.)

Kid: (trailing a few steps behind jogs to catch up.) so what are you doing out here in the woods anyway?

Man: what are you doing in the woods?

Kid: tryina be happy.

Man: (clutches his chest, biting his lip with a misty tear in his eye.) *heavy sigh* is that so?

Kid: yeah I just want me and my friends to be happy and safe and strong enough to hold on to each other as long as were friends.

Man: ( stops with a sudden stomp. Turns to the kid eyes twinkling and face alight.) Such love such compassion!(clasps his hands together bringing them to his face.) such pure sentiment!!! Go home and bring a dozen of your closest friends back to this spot.(points to the tree next to the path with a W carved in it that marked both where they started and where they were now.) so that you and your friends can have “safe” fun and be happy whatever that means to you!!!

Kid:(looks over at the tree amazed that they walked a circle without ever turning. As it looks back towards the man only to find him gone.) “I Believe” I know Who to tell about this play path.

I don’t like it. To solid of a fitting in a story line. ~TheClockMaker~

End Scene: (fade to white)

Chapter 1
A New Perspective

As I stepped past that same light pole I passed everyday the one used as a halfway mark between the facility and my dormitory, I noticed something: A new perspective that had never been there before, one that seemed… more colorful? No, brighter? That doesn’t quite do it justice either. Vibrant?! Yes that’s it more vibrant.

And as I looked beyond this pole from this new perspective I noticed something that had never been there… or? Maybe I had just never noticed it before. But against the building by the light pole stood a beautifully crafted 1920’s phone booth, but it’s glass was frosted. Modernized for privacy: I thought.

The door opened and it seemed full of steam, or mist of some sort. Out of the mist stepped a man wearing an amazingly tailored tail suit and top hat of a color that I can’t quite describe except as “vibrant” even against the backdrop of this new perspective.

The man waved a hand holding a cane as if to disperse the mist, he in appearance was radiant almost luminous. As he stepped forward the mist seemed to linger on his shoulders until he mouthed a word. As the mist finally evaporated the door of the phone booth closed behind him.

This guy. This man shouted “hey you there! (Not even looking at me, instead looking at a watch I assumed.) When… (he trailed off as he finally looked up at me.) Scratch that where am I?”

“Your at foundation facility __. Wait why did I tell you that, why are you here?” I asked. “I’m a doctor” he stated mater-of-factly. Licking the roof of his mouth as if it were distasteful to say. “Doctor who?” I asked. “No, not quite.”(He stated as he began to rummage around in his coat.) At least I don’t think… Or rather I do think and that is how I am most sure I’m not.”

He produced a locked file case and handed it to me saying. “These are some very important papers, I will be returning for them at some point.” Then handed me an envelope with “read me” scrolled as if with a quill on the front.

He then turned snapping his fingers. The phone booth opened and he walked in. It seems like a dream to this day. If those papers weren’t in containment OR I didn’t have that note, I would be like everyone else, I wouldn’t believe it happened or that he was real. But…

“I Believe.”
