Item #: SCP-4000

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4000 is to be kept locked up in a water-tight safe, inside a 404 square feet cell. Which is to be monitored through 6 security camera's 24/7.

All personnel monitoring the Canvas must undergo weekly Psychological evaluations.

No liquids that can be used to paint are to be allowed with a 150-ft radius of SCP-4000 without permission of a level-5 administrator. Anyone found disregarding this protocol will be immediately terminated.

All instances of a SCP-4000-1 are to be immediately detained and questioned.

Description: SCP-4000 is a blank 16" x 20" canvas in a 20" x 24" frame. It has the power to compel anyone who is in a 150-ft radius of it to paint it with any liquid at hand.1

The affected individual will then feel compelled to paint a picture about a historical figure. Regardless of individual talent the picture that forms will always be of high-quality. Although seemingly allowed to paint whoever they wish, SCP-4000 will exert it's will to stop a person from painting a historical figure that has already been brought to life.

Once complete the affected individual will melt and turn to paint, while their picture comes to life and steps out of SCP-4000. leaving a blank canvas behind. They are then designated as a SCP-4000-1(x)

Once brought to life; SCP-4000-1(x) will have all the memories, skills and defects of it's historical counterpart. However, it was quickly discovered that the memories in question are in reality from an ALTERNATE historical counterpart's timeline where the historical figure was a member2 of the Foundation. Although their 'account's' have proven to have not happen in this timeline, they have 'proof' and intimate knowledge of the Foundation that only a Thaumiel-level operative would know.

It is unclear at this time whether or not they are simply brought into existence or are pulled from an alternate universe. However, the SCP-4000-1(x)'s believe that their timeline is the true timeline and seem to have no knowledge of SCP-4000 or it's workings.

SCP-4000 was discovered in Italy, Rome, 19██. In an abandoned workshop belonging to a mediocre post-Renaissance artist named ████ ████.

The foundation first learned of it's existence when reports of 'Benito Mussolini killing high-level sentient ██████'s' in that area came to our attention.

A response team showed up only to find the threat taken care of. 'Mussolini' (AKA. SCP-4000-1A) willingly handed himself in to Foundation custody3 and directed them to the location of SCP-4000.

Addendum 1: Due to the results of Test 6, all further testing regarding SCP-4000 is hereby terminated until further notice. By direct order of The O5 Council.

Addendum 2: Requests to use SCP-4000 to make an army of senior veteran agents is still in discussion.
