Item #: SCP-4137

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP 4137 is to be kept inside the computer lab on site ████ at all times. The computer itself is to be kept in a 9.6 by 9.6 inch locked case, and is to be resupplied with coolant every week. SCP-4137 is to only be interacted with under research purposes and, to prevent security breaches, all personal researching SCP-4137 are to be monitored to ensure they do not attempt to access classified info. Under no circumstances are personal to go further back than the year 1AD, as it may result in rips in space time.

Description: SCP-4137 is a modified Apple 2 computer with a coolant port on the left monitor wall. Below the monitor are 2 modified floppy drive slots, one labeled "input" and the other labeled "output". It has a set of seemingly normal floppy drives, which were found with SCP-4137 when it was recovered at █████. The container the drives were found in was labeled "Remember not only the past, but the pasts that could have been". When one of these floppy drives is inserted in the "input" floppy drive slot, SCP-4137 will mechanically hum for around 5 seconds before displaying a search bar on its monitor, along with a header that says "search the past". Upon imputing an event name, a list will appear containing the search results of the entered event. Once an event is selected, another search bar will appear along with a new header that says "make the past". When the user inputs an outcome of that event, a new list will appear containing outcomes related to the one inputted. Upon an outcome being selected, SCP-4137 will display a message on its monitor saying "writing the past" followed by loud mechanical humming and banging. Around 10-15 seconds later, the floppy drive will be ejected out of the output floppy drive slot, and a message will be displayed saying "Process complete" before powering off. If the floppy drive is reinserted into the "input" floppy drive slot, the outcome written on the floppy drive will play on the monitor of SCP-4137 and, upon concluding, the floppy drive will once again be ejected. Outcomes have ranged from 1 minute to more than 3 hours long, depending on the length of the event and the specified outcome.

Test Log A

Procedure: A floppy drive that did not come with SCP-4137 was inserted.

Results: After a brief moment of mechanical humming, SCP-4137 displayed a message saying "Invalid Drive" before ejecting the floppy drive that was inserted. Further analysis of the drive revealed that it had been fried, and consequently bricked.

Analysis: It appears that only the floppy drives that were found with SCP-4137 are compatible with it, and all other drives that are inserted will be fried.
