Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5229 is to be locked in opaque container in the center of a 4m x 4m room. Viewing of the object is only permitted for research related tasks. There are to be no windows and only foundation personnel with reflective goggles and security cameras are permitted to view the object. SCP-5229 is currently being held at a secure offsite in █████, Montana. A level 3 card is required to enter the containment center. SCP-5229 must be held in a briefcase handcuffed to a personnel equipped with a standardized 9mm handgun for transport to another site/location.
Description: SCP-5229 resembles a brass rod approximately 18cm long and 7.5cm in diameter. Evenly spaced along the object are 5 rings made of what appears to be birch wood. Each ring has the same 10 symbols of unknown origin engraved upon the circumference. SCP-5229 was recovered from a small toy shop in a village in ████████, Iceland.
If an organism with a complex brain structure has a direct line of sight with the object, they will feel a strong compulsion to pick up the object and solve it, stating that the object "needs to be corrected and unlocked." An organism that reaches this state will hereby be referred to as "the subject." If the subject comes in direct contact with the object, they will no longer respond to any form of stimuli. The subject in this state will now be hereby referred to as SCP-5229-1.
In the occasion that the subject has been recovered from its state, a standard 3-month counseling period will be administered, along with amnestic B-223746.
A test was conducted on D-██████ by Doctor █████ to record a full interaction with SCP-5229.

Results:
Initial contact-D-██████ is now classified as SCP-5229-1
5:00 - SCP-5229-1 no longer responds to any form of physical or emotional stimuli.
25:34 - SCP-5229-1 shows signs of distress and frustration.
59:01 - SCP-5229-1 begins to vocalize their frustration in screams and shouts.
1:25:57 - SCP-5229-1 begins to bludgeon their self with SCP-5229.
1:34:12 - SCP-5229-1 self-terminates.
Addendum: After the original test, no further tests were conducted with D-Class personnel.
