Special Containment Procedures:
The object is to be kept locked except when being used in testing. Roads leading to SCP-3498 must be blocked off or completely diverted, if possible.

If any personnel or civilians unaware of the existence of SCP-3498 enter the anomalous area, they are to be immediately retrieved by the facility guards, administered Class B amnestic, and returned to their last known location. The same precaution should be taken if an instance of SCP-3498-2 leaves the anomalous area.

Due to the possible mental strain of repeatedly entering the anomalous area, personnel involved in direct testing with SCP-3498 should submit to psychological evaluation every 3 weeks and, if needed, treatment.

Description:
SCP-3498 is a 2.5x 1m anomalous area of space superimposed over an iron door located on the corner of M██████ and D████n St. in the town of Si████ ███ls, Michigan. The anomalous area of space only exists within the doorway, and nowhere inside the abandoned building the door is part of.

However, if one is to open and step through SCP-3498, it's anomalous qualities will manifest. They will instantly and suddenly be transported to a singular pocket of space-time, unknown as of yet how large in size. Travellers have reported to experience nausea, vertigo, and, in extreme cases, seizures.

The aforementioned space-time pocket, hence known as SCP-3498-1, an exact replica of Si████ ███ls, with the traveller appearing through any doorway within the town. It is unknown if this could be an abnormality of the town itself, or another effect of SCP-3498. The replica contains another copy of SCP-3498, though sending subjects through it has resulted in cases of [REDACTED], and has been discontinued.

Returning through the doorway one has entered into SCP-3498-1 will return the traveller out of SCP-3498, with the same effects as entering. This activity has been accidentally replicated in some cases by the inhabitants of SCP-3498-1, termed SCP-3498-2. These individuals are mostly harmless, only turning violent in extreme cases of confusion.

D-3384: Aw, Jesus, doc. I don't know what to say. It was just… weird. *shifts uncomfortably*

Dr. J█████: In what way?

D-3384: It was the town, everything exactly the same, even the door I went through.

Dr. J█████: *scribbles on clipboard* Hmm. And this… other town, did it have a Foundation as well?

D-3384: Y-yeah. The agents were all there, and the researchers, and…and…

Dr. J█████: And what?

D-3384: *shakily* I was there.

D-3384: I was there. I was there. I was there. *heavy breathing* I was there. I was there.

Dr. J█████: D-3384, please calm down. Subject D-3384!

D-3384: *hyperventilating* I was there i was there i was there

Laboratory Report:

Foreword: The following document is a summary of videotapes recorded by the commander of MTF Lambda-5 ("White Rabbits") during an experiment conducted within SCP-3498-1 deemed unable for D-class to participate in, due to the possibility of the personnel being unable to return and deliver needed information to Foundation researchers without the proper training for dealing with unstable areas of space-time.

<Begin Log 2:05 PM/██/██/2011>

The recording starts with all members of MTF Lambda-5 standing outside SCP-3498. A Foundation researcher, Dr. ███████, stands with them, briefing them of their mission.

Dr. ███████: Greetings. As you have been informed previously, the space-time pocket designated as SCP-3498-1 contains a replica version of its own access point. Your mission is to cross through said replica, observe what lies beyond, and report back to us. Interacting with instances of SCP-3498-2 is not to be attempted, as we wish to be able to run further tests without disturbing the area.

Lambda-5-01: Yes sir, Dr. ███████. Permission to begin?

Dr. ███████: Granted.

Lambda-5-01 turns the camera towards SCP-3498, unlocks it, and steps through.

<Time skip to 3:01>

We see a view of the copy of SCP-3498 contained within SCP-3498-1. It is surrounded by instances of SCP-3498-2, including guards, researchers, and copies of each of the Lambda-5 members, who unlock and walk through SCP-3498.

Lambda-5-02: We're clear.

Lambda-5-02 takes a spray bottle filled with Class I amnestic and spritzes it towards the instances of SCP-3498-2. As they inhale, they fall under its effects.

Lambda-5-01: Move in.

//MTF Lambda-5 enters the area, bypassing the instances of SCP-3498-2 and entering the replica.

<Time skip to 5:38>

MTF Lambda-5 walk through a courtyard. At this point, slight audio and visual glitches begin to occur.

Lambda-5-03: Commander, did you hear that?

Lambda-5-01: Negative, 03.

Lambda-5-02: We've scouted out the area within the replica. We should turn back, report to the doctor.

Lambda-5-03: Are you sure? We haven't seen any instances of SCP-3498-2 since we came through the second door. Something's off about this place. (The faint outline of a shadowy figure can be seen in the background of the recording for approximately 5 seconds after this point.)
