Item #: SCP-4783

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: [SCP-4783 is to be kept in a small air tight vault style safe on the lowest floor of its facility, with outer dimensions of -2.5ft x 3ft x 5ft. the walls themselves should be at least 4in thick and constructed out of military grade stainless steel. On the inside of the safe there should be a cylindrical stainless steel rod tightly secured to the base. this cylinder should be 3ft tall, and 2inches longer than the diameter of a modern12fl oz doctor pepper soda can. In the center of the cylinder their should be a cutout of the exact same depth and diameter of 12fl oz doctor pepper can, SCP-4783 is then placed into this cutout. SCP-4783 must then be covered with a stainless steel pressure chamber lid used to monitor the pressure for the automated system to vent excess CO2 once the pressure has reached critical levels.

Addendum Following incident: 4783-027-1 Must be equipped with internal security cameras and pressure gauges, in the case that the automatic pressure release fails to activate in which case pressure must be vented manually. For more information see document 4783-027-1A.
Following Incident: 4783-525-2 all storage safes for SCP-4783 must be equipped with an automatic vault door, seismic activity sensors, as well as motion sensors. Should the safe move more than a certain threshold, the vault door will shut, and seal to avoid a repeat of the incident. For more information see document 4783-525-2B.

Description: SCP-4783 appears as a normal 12oz can of doctor pepper, however the can has no serial number, barcode, or factory number, leaving the true origins widely unknown. The anomalous properties of this can are, once tipped past 60 degrees the can will continually pour an anomalous liquid (Named SCP-4783A) until whatever space SCP-4783 is currently in is full to capacity. How this is accomplished has yet to be discovered. No matter how long SCP-4783 is poured, the weight will remain at a constant 239.65 grams. In an attempt find a limit to this property, the can was left pouring for 8 hours straight producing 360 gallons (1363 liters) of SCP-4783A; giving a flow rate of 0.75gpm. After this experiment the fluid content of SCP-4783 was deemed to be unlimited. SCP-4783A also has unique properties in the fact that it will never go above the temperature of 38F (3.33C), as well as it will never stop releasing CO2. Otherwise it both looks, and tastes like regular doctor pepper. When ingested SCP-4783A will not stop emitting CO2, causing anyone who may have drank any to burp constantly. Subjects will continue to burp until their stomachs were pumped, or until they suffocate from excessive CO2 inhalation. Subjects who have drank from SCP-4783, have described it as tasting unusually good, even subjects who have stated they don't enjoy the taste of doctor pepper have been shown to enjoy this. An experiment was conducted to see if SCP-4783A is self replicating. After transferring some of it to a confirmed non anomalous can, it was not poured in an unlimited quantity.

Recovery: SCP-4783 was first brought to the foundations attention when a D-class subject at site:[REDACTED] was surrounded by laughing personal in the mess hall . The subject couldn't stop burping. The guards were about to detain D-[REDACTED] when the subject collapsed and fell comatose from the lack of oxygen. The ensuing laughter immediately stopped once this had occurred. Unfortunately no one saw where D-[REDACTED] had obtained the soda, so how it had gotten into the facility. Security footage has also given no results.

4783-027-1A: On August, 12, [REDACTED];exactly 7 days after recovery, Security at site:[REDACTED] was notified of possible containment breach on level 1. When they investigated they found the door of SCP-4783 safe class containment cell was missing, and directly across from it was a hole in the reinforced concrete wall holding SCP-[REDACTED]. The forensics department was sent to investigate, while SCP-[REDACTED] was sent to a temporary containment cell. What they found is that the blast was caused by large buildup of pressure caused the cell door to fail catastrophically. The pressure built up inside the room is estimated to have been [REDACTED]Gpa. After repairs were completed, SCP-4783’s cell was outfitted with pressure regulator. The site director decided that SCP-4783 should retain its classification of safe, even though the the incident could have been far worse, as shown by the severity of damage.

4783-525-2B: this incident occurred approximately 3 months after SCP-4783 containment. Which all things considered, is impressive given the circumstances of the incident. The incident was caused, when testing at the facility caused an unexpected 7.3 magnitude earthquake on site. Security followed proper procedure and confirmed the containment of higher priority SCP’s on site. However the fact that SCP-4783 had been tipped over had not been noticed by any of the onsite staff. By the time security had gotten to its containment cell, no one knew its 512 cubic ft cell had been filled to 75% capacity with SCP-4783A. When security unlocked the cell, 2,872 gallons of doctor pepper came rushing out of the door at the unsuspecting security team. Security footage shows a impressive tidal wave of doctor pepper flooding the surrounding halls, and mowing down on site staff; however no casualties were caused by this event, as all onsite staff who had ingested any of SCP-4783A or had any injuries received immediate medical attention. The containment procedures were subsequently updated to the current specifications. Following this event, it was decided that SCP-4783 be reclassified to euclid.
