SCP-4126

SCP-XXXX's exterior

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: The deed corresponding to the address of SCP-XXXX is to be acquired and owned by the Foundation. All record of the sale is to be erased and any persons with knowledge of the sale given Class-C Amnestics.

The appearance of an abandoned house is to be set up around the perimeter of SCP-XXX, and “Danger: No Trespass” signs attached above all possible entrances. Said entrance signs, as well as any additional fixtures are to be attached with chemical adhesives only. No screws, nails, or other construction method likely to cause structural damage to SCP-XXXX or any of its furnishings are to be used. Furthermore, no work or renovations are to take place on SCP-XXXX without the direct permission of Researchers Lane, Black and Andrews. Additionally, no weapons (or objects capable of intentional bodily harm) are to be brought on site without written permission of the above.

Revision as of 19/10/20██: No Phase-2-Susceptible individuals are to enter SCP-XXXX unless given Class-C Amnestics. Furthermore, all personnel assigned to SCP-XXXX must undergo a mandatory psychiatric assessment to verify no underlying violent tendencies.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a house located at 7 █████ Street, █████████, built in the Gothic style. Architectural analysis suggests that it was built in the late Victorian era, however no records of the building's construction or sale prior to Foundation ownership have been found to date. Only one document, unverified, has been discovered regarding SCP-XXXX. A personal letter, it refers to "A house on █████ Street" and calls it "A safe place". The document also makes reference to a 'Mrs Abigail', the supposed owner of the house. Research is underway to identify this woman and verify the pertinence of the letter.

SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties first manifested when the land surrounding it was demolished for a planned housing development by ████ █████. Despite its apparent age, all attempts to demolish SCP-XXXX have failed due to its anomalous properties. Whenever such an attempt is made, a local manipulation of random probability occurs that produces a chain-reaction effect that can be described as "Heightened Coincidence". This effect manifests by preventing any damage to the structure of SCP-XXXX or its furnishings. Furthermore, any living beings within the walls of SCP-XXXX are also protected by a similar "Heightened Coincidence". To date, no living creature has sustained a recorded injury within SCP-XXXX. Particle analysis indicates an unusual proportion of positive nucleic spin when SCP-XXXX's properties are active (reaching 80~90% positive spin). There is no evidence to suggest that SCP-XXXX's properties affect to non-living entities brought from outside SCP-XXXX.

Recovery Log: Construction on the housing development was delayed by a series of events later attributed to SCP-XXXX'2 anomalous properties. Events included: Multiple cases of equipment failure, an unrelated worker strike, weather events and an administrative mistake requiring planning permission to be reacquired. This last event caused a delay for almost a year, during which the SCP building was brought to The Foundation's attention by agents embedded in the local council. Planning permission was denied and the land surrounding the SCP building was promptly acquired by The Foundation.

Addendum XXXX-1: As of experiment XXXX-██, an additional anomalous property manifested in SCP-XXXX, classified as SCP-XXXX Phase 2. All individuals who had committed repeated violent acts within SCP-XXXX are affected by this property. These individuals are classified as Phase-2-Susceptible. Approximately 10~15 acts is required for an individual to become Phase-2-Susceptible, although it has occurred quicker in individuals with violent tendencies. Any attempt by a Phase-2-Susceptible individual to commit a violent act within SCP-XXXX is affected by the same "Heightened Coincidence" as any other. However, in addition, the "Heightened Coincidence" reflects the injury the victim would have sustained onto the Phase-2-Susceptible individual. A simple example would be an attempt by a Phase-2-Susceptible Individual to strike another. This would result in a chain reaction that would: a. Prevent the attempt to strike and b. lead to the Phase-2-Susceptible individual being hit with blunt force.

Addendum XXXX-2:

The following sections are probably gonna be cut but I left them just in case

As of 22/08/2007, the containment procedures for SCP-XXXX have been revised. All personnel above D-Class are to spend no more than two hours within SCP-XXXX and all personnel above D-Class with known violent tendencies are not to enter the site. Any personnel failing to abide by these procedures are to be taken for immediate psychiatric analysis and anti-memetics are to be administered if necessary. No weapons are to be taken inside under any circumstances. All SCP entities exposed to the effects of SCP-XXXX for containment purposes are to be routinely re-exposed every two weeks.

Addendum XXXX-1: After extensive use of SCP-XXXX as a research facility, the anomalous properties altered. The site appears to show a form of sentience, having altered its properties in accordance with events. However, no signs of a consciousness or any form of central nervous system have been found in the house. The anomalous properties of the house that counteract action made to damage it made investigation difficult, however. The repeated introduction of violent individuals seems to have caused the house's properties to change. Following the anomalous event on 22/08/2007, all individuals within the SCP's area begin to be affected by a memetic effect, causing them to become passive. This effect is heavily accelerated in violent individuals or individuals attempting a violent act. Exposure for at least 2 hours by these individuals causes the effect to persist for anywhere between 3 to 6 weeks. Currently, all known sentient entities, living or non-living, have been shown susceptible to the effect. Following this change in properties, the containment procedures were revised as above and Site H was reclassified as a containment location, for use in pacifying violent SCPs.

the apparent 'consciousness' of the house appears to have become malicious. Following the anomalous event on 19/10/2007, the containment procedures were again revised and Site-H decommissioned, the SCP being re-classed as Euclid. All individuals previously affected the accelerated memetic effect are now terminated within 10 minutes of entering the premises. The house exhibits spatial distortions that separate the subject from any other living creatures, no matter how many rooms in the house are populated. After approximately 5 minutes, the subject will be found in another room of the house, terminated due to an accident. It seems that the same coincidence effect that protected individuals is the cause of termination in each case. Furthermore, a similar memetic effect will compel all individuals in this group within 200 meters to enter the house, upon which they will be terminated as described above.

Experiment 4126-36, 25/02/20██

Subject: D-4582
Researcher on Duty: Researcher Black
Method: Subject was given tablets of Ricin, Cyanide, Tetradotoxin and Botulinum Toxin and instructed to take each individually.
Result: After subject showed no apparent symptoms of any of the toxins given, subject was taken for medical analysis. Subject was revealed to have a vastly different digestive system from baseline humans, capable of digesting all known substances. Subject was temporarily classed as SCP XXXX-1 until more information could be learned about the subject's anomalous properties regarding extent and permanence and is pending reclassification as a separate SCP entity.

Of all the goddamn D-Class we could've picked, we happened to pick the one that was an SCP -Researcher Andrews

Experiment 4126-52, 23/06/20██

Subject: Stage 4 cancer patient from local hospital.
Researcher on Duty: Researcher Black
Method: Subject was brought into the premises of the SCP building and their vitals monitored.
Result: Subject's cancer showed no signs of progression and all symptoms halted. Subject reported no pain or discomfort. Results are pending further investigation as no reason could be attributed to the sudden halt in the subject's condition.
