Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is contained in a special 750cm x 1m x 750cm tube made of stainless steel. This tube is to be emptied out through a special pipe every two (2) days in case of possible contamination. No personnel is allowed to interact with this tube at any moment unless directed otherwise by at least two (2) senior researchers.
Description: SCP-XXXX is of similar make and construction to an ordinary gray water valve. [anomalous] Despite being attached to nothing, a sharp hissing noise can be heard when SCP-XXXX is turned clockwise. Once the valve is turned to a certain degree, a gush of water is heard and all air contained in *REDACTED* is instantly transformed into invisible water, quickly drowning any non-aquatic subjects. To date, any four walled room is enough to contain SCP-XXXX’s immediate effects.
Left unattended for approximately an hour, SCP-XXXX will begin to produce marine animals. Within about 5 hours a small ecosystem is established. However, this process is accelerated when multiple bodies are leftover from the initial flooding.
Left for approximately a day, the invisible water produced by SCP-XXXX will begin to spread to its surrounding area. The rate of growth is exponential, starting at about 4 meters per hour. This stage occurs regardless of any walls initially containing the ecosystem. Through testing it is known the invisible water “hangs” in midair at the region’s borders.
It is not known whether any third stage of growth exists, as SCP-XXXX has never been activated long enough to show this.
The only known way to deactivate SCP-XXXX is to turn the object counter-clockwise, “shutting off” the water. Any effects of a large body of water existing immediately cease, aside from large quantities of aquatic animals falling to the ground. Research into the object’s method of flooding is currently ongoing.
