SCP-XXXX

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: Every found instance of SCP-XXXX is to be placed in a secure container at Site-14. Testing is of the highest priority. Testing has been suspended pending further notice.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an analog clock with a rotating pendulum design enclosed within a glass capsule on a golden base. Whenever SCP-XXXX is rewound, a copy of itself, designated SCP-XXXX-1 is created at a random point at a distance proportional to the amount of time wound. This copy appears once the clock has stopped being wound. Additionally, the person rewinding the clock is also copied, designated SCP-XXXX-2, and appears with the copy of the clock. Both SCP XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 exist for the amount of time the clock was wound back for i.e. if the clock was wound 5 hours back, both -1 and -2 will last for 5 hours. After this time, both instances cease to exist.

SCP-XXXX was discovered in ███████, England by Researcher G. SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties were not discovered until several days after recovery of the item, when the Researcher's brother wound the clock by only a few seconds. Immediately after winding, both SCP-XXXX-1 and -2 appeared, with the latter reaching out to grab his original's arm. Upon doing so, the original vanished. SCP-XXXX, -1 and -2 were immediately placed into custody. Due to the apparent danger of winding SCP-XXXX and the fact that Researcher G had wound it for some time after first retrieving the item, further testing was immediately approved.

Addendum-A: Test Logs

Test A

Subject: D-45329
Procedure: Subject was instructed to wind the clock back exactly one minute.
Results: SCP-XXXX-1 and -2 appeared approximately 100 m away from D-45329. -2 started sprinting towards his original and was terminated before arrival. Exactly 1 minute after winding, the body of -2 and -1 disappeared.
Analysis: So far, so good. Disallowing contact between the original and -2 destroys -1 and -2. However, I'd like to test if -2 knows where their original is, as previous attempts have had -2 and the original within line of sight. - Researcher G.

Test B

Subject: D-45329
Procedure: Subject placed behind the second from the left of 5 identical doors and instructed to wind the clock back exactly one minute.
Results: SCP-XXXX-1 and -2 appeared approximately 100 m away from D-45329. -2 started sprinting towards his original and encountered the doors. -2 ran towards the second door from the left without hesitation and succeeded in opening and touching his original. D-45329 subsequently disappeared, with SCP-XXXX-2 being terminated shortly afterwards.
Analysis: So they know where they're going at first, but do they always have a lock on? - Researcher G.

Test C

Subject: D-45335
Procedure: Subject placed into one of three unmarked vehicles and instructed to wind the clock back exactly one minute. All three vehicles instructed to drive in different directions after winding.
Results: SCP-XXXX-1 and -2 appeared approximately 100 m away from D-45335. -2 started sprinting towards his original, chasing the correct car despite several attempts by the other drivers to distract. -1 and -2 disappeared after chasing unsuccessfully for 1 minute.
Analysis: Well, ████. -2 knows where their original is at all times, so it seems. That's not good news. -2 is always purpose-driven: find their original and touch them. How close are they to the originals though? Requesting permission to interview a -2. - Researcher G.

Permission Granted. - Senior Researcher Barnes.
