This is the grave of the lost beginning
The god that never was
This is the last breath of the end—
Of the god that never was

Entombed in this sacred ground
Is a power to destroy creation
Stifled before its time
Soon, the god will rise again

To ensconce the world in flood.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Due to the massive loss of life sustained at █████████, SCP-XXXX is not to be removed from the original site of discovery. SCP-XXXX is to be kept under guard at all times, shackled to the sacrificial altar where it was first recovered. Outside disturbance, be it by civilians or Foundation agents, will immediately result in termination.

SCP-XXXX must be kept under two linen burial shrouds at all times, the inner layer and the inscriptions upon it undisturbed, and the outer layer replaced every time it decays. It is to be kept under a sarcophagus made of fiberglass, lifted only when the outer shroud must be replaced.

Foundation records show that the inner shroud was found along with SCP-XXXX in ████. Through radiocarbon dating, it has been determined that the object is approximately 4,000 years old, but it is believed that SCP-XXXX predates it by at least ███████ years. The shroud has since been examined, and it has been shown to depict ancient Sumerian cuneiform, which stretches along the shroud's surface area. Translations show that they are prayers to the the goddess Inanna, along with binding hymns, condemning her "to the fate she deserves". The characters have been found to be written in human blood, and it is believed that some sort of ancient ritual was enacted to bind SCP-XXXX to its containment site an indeterminate amount of time ago.

The shroud itself exhibits anomalous properties, especially in its uncanny resistance to decay. Despite this, however, objects placed around the shroud seem to achieve an accelerated rate of decomposition, the only thing immune to this effect being SCP-XXXX itself.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a female humanoid of indeterminate age, appearing to be of Middle-Eastern origin. The subject stands at 178 cm and weighs about 22.9 kg, due to a notable lack of blood and internal organs. The membrane surrounding the subject's entire body is a tawny shade of brown, though it is noticeably devoid of both organic matter and any flaws, including palmar flexion creases and interphalangeal creases. When tested, the material seems to be made of soft clay, though the method of how it was produced cannot be determined. Despite being able to see, the subject's face is marked by a distinct lack of distinguishable eyes, with jagged clusters of a mineral determined to be solid amethyst inside her eye sockets. When viewed from afar, these amethysts appear golden, as if lit from the inside.

Upon closer examination, it has been determined that SCP-XXXX is indeed lit from the inside by an unknown golden plasma, which registers at approximately 1030 K. The same substance can only be found in █████████, the tomb where SCP-XXXX is currently contained.

SCP-XXXX has the ability to grow organic material from within its body, with its clay-like outer membrane noticeably absent from its right arm. Underneath this membrane, near the subject’s clavicle region, roots extend down, tapering off into five points similar to human fingers. From these finger-like structures, substances not unlike Cydonia oblonga, quince, have been observed to grow at least once every 60 years.

These growths, henceforth known as SCP-XXXX-B, have been observed to grant functional, vulnerable immortality to those who consume them, making subjects immune to ageing and disease, but not keeping them safe from injury brought on by the use of weapons or other similar means.

The consumption of SCP-XXXX-B instances have also been known to render subjects functionally brain dead, leaving them susceptible to being overtaken by SCP-XXXX's consciousness. Aside from this, subjects who have eaten of the growths will transform while still alive, and the symptoms of these transformations include:

  • the degradation of ocular nerves
  • ossification of muscular tissue and body fat
  • mineralization of the eyes
  • liquefaction of the internal organs
  • hardening of the skin
  • eventual loss of all bodily organic matter

The successful transformation of a subject will in turn lead to a containment breach, with the subject effectively turning into an instance of SCP-XXXX. The instances of SCP-XXXX that arise from the consumption of SCP-XXXX-B (henceforth known as SCP-XXXX-C) are shown to be capable of producing their own supply of SCP-XXXX-B, and it is recommended that these instances never be left alive long enough to bear fruit because the continued creation of SCP-XXXX-C instances may potentially lead to a VK-class end-of-the-world scenario.

Addendum XXXX-1: A breach of an instance of SCP-XXXX-C caused by a D-Class test subject's consumption of SCP-XXXX-B caused the subject to go on a rampage, killing any and all Foundation agents who attempted to pursue it before any of them could react to the situation. It did this by releasing a torrent of fire into the testing chamber it was sealed within, causing an anomalously fast-burning blaze that killed all personnel involved in the test. CCTV footage shows that all personnel remained frozen for approximately 3 minutes while the breach was taking place, leading some to believe that it may be an entity with limited reality-bending capabilities, although that hypothesis has yet to be confirmed.

Following this incident, SCP-XXXX's Euclid categorization was revised and changed to Keter, with the approval of O5-█.

The instance was then neutralized with a memetic kill agent released remotely into the testing chamber.

Note: Following this incident, an expedition to SCP-XXXX's containment site revealed that SCP-XXXX-A still remained there in its containment chamber, with five new instances of SCP-XXXX-B growths from its arm-like appendage. Senior Researcher Strickland and Junior Researcher Richards were unable to be located. They are still currently missing and presumed dead.

Further investigations into SCP-XXXX's containment site have since revealed more about the subject's origins and eventual binding:

  • An etching on an ancient copper plate states that SCP-XXXX seems to have a concrete connection to the Garden of Eden, with sources stating that the subject is a vestige of the Tree of Life. This is, however, impossible to confirm.
  • There is a mural in the containment chamber of ancient peoples using an artifact believed to be the Spear of the Non-Believer in order to contain SCP-XXXX. This is in addition to the prayer shroud that covers the subject's body.
  • Arguably of most interest, there is a replica of the symbol branded onto SCP-073's forehead painted onto the far side of the room. When prompted, SCP-XXXX states that she had carved the symbol with her own hand, and it reads: last-living
