Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXX must be kept in a steel box measuring 1m x 1m x 1m at Site 39. The box must be kept under constant surveillance by at least two guards wearing ear protection standing 20 meters away from it. If any person is found holding or wearing SCP-XXX, they must be terminated without hesitation. In the case of a breach, personnel must make securing SCP-XXX a high priority.

Description: SCP-XXX appears as an average sized black top hat, although anyone who stands within 15 meters of it will describe that it seems to radiate a dark, foreboding atmosphere around it, and the closer someone gets, the heavier the atmosphere gets. Most people who are exposed to it for periods of time longer than 10 minutes slowly have their sanity chipped away, even after they are no longer exposed.
Anyone who comes in contact with SCP-XXX shall be considered SCP-XXX-2

Discovery SCP-XXX was discovered by Agent █████ in ██████████, Canada. SCP-XXX was located on SCP-XXX-2-1, who was later identified as Nicholas █████, a wanted serial killer and wannabe mafia member, who was responsible for 18 murders in the span of a month. SCPXXX-2-1 was shot eight times by Agent █████ before he died. SCP-XXX was soon secured and contained at site 39.

Addendum XXX-1 The only known human to come into contact with SCP-XXX was SCP-XXX-2-1. Autopsies on SCP-2-1 revealed that the SCP is parasitic and produce hyphae-like tendrils that spread throughout the human brain, most specifically the cerebrum. The SCP doesn't appear to consume the hosts brain, and scientists are unsure what it's true intent is. Scientists are largely convinced that SCP-XXX can control the thoughts and actions of its host, and that it chooses it's host that it is compatible with.
Addendum XXX-2 Out of ten D class subjects exposed to SCP-XXX, eight claimed that the closer they approached to it, the more the SCP seemed to repel them. One D class subject, D-4102, walked as close as two meters when a loud shrieking sound emitted from SCP-XXX occurred. D-4102 immediately collapsed, and tried to crawl away. Once D-4102 made it 5 meters, he started bleeding through his eyes and before dying. After an autopsy by Doctor ████, it was revealed D-4102 was experiencing extreme migraines and severe head trauma caused by the SCP-XXX.
The other two D-class subjects that weren't experiencing the foreboding atmosphere claimed to feel an attraction to SCP-XXX, and insisted on being around it all the time. The lust for SCP-XXX grew exponentially in the two D-class subjects to the point where they became violent, and were terminated by guards when they tried to force their way to the SCP
