Item# SCP-
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: If SCP- is found, these precautions are to be taken immediately. The locations at which SCP- has relocated to due to the present cycle are to be taken under dominion of the Foundation, regardless the purpose of the building. Every entrance into this building must be by a staff member, each armed with a Daniel Defense AR-15 Assault Rifle and instructed to shoot anyone who attempts to enter the building. There are 2 staff members present with SCP- at all times in order to ensure nobody walks on/off the SCP. All staff members are to have their eyelids removed so no accidental transportations occur.
If a victim of SCP is transported to one of the monitored SCP- sites, and survives, they will immediately be taken into custody for further testing. Once the subject is finished with testing they will be released from confinement.
Description: SCP- are a group of carpets that are located in buildings around the world. If an individual is to step on one of SCP- and close their eyes, when the individual opens their eyes they will have been immediately transported to another SCP-. Through testing it has been determined that it might be possible to predict which SCP someone will be transported to in the near future, taking into account the weather, the person being transported, and the building the object is located in. 90% of the time the subject sustains no injuries and is in perfect health after arriving to the next SCP. The other 10% of the time, the subject will arrive dead, even though the body has sustained no visible injuries. Every autopsy comes back negative for any cause of death.
The 43 known subjects who successfully made it through the transportation process of SCP- have all reported seeing the same yellow triangles floating around their eyes after arriving. 3 of these subjects have all described seeing a flash of a figure before arriving at the next SCP. They all described it as a man wearing black pants, and a black coat with a bright red button down shirt. The man was seen wearing a top hat, with his face pointed at about a 45˚ angle toward the ground. The only facial features the subjects were able to notice due to the angle of the mans face was an unsettlingly large smile. They all got noticeably quieter, and a bit frightened while mentioning this. They could not make out any details of the shoes he was wearing due to the very short of a time they got to see him.
Each SCP- will relocate to a new location every 7 years on March 5th. Through observation, it has been determined SCP- will only relocated to buildings that were built before 1960. No further patterns have been discovered. There is not yet a definitive number of how many SCP- there are, but it has been noticed that each SCP- has a 2 inch by 2 inch white tag extruding from one of its sides. Each tag has a unique number on it, scaling from 1-12. As of this cycle, the foundation has acquired SCP numbers 1,2,4,7 and 8. At the end of last cycle (2015) the foundation had numbers 1,2,3,6,8,11 and 12 in possession.
SCP- -1 through 6 all appear the same. They all look like a red carpet with a white stripe about 6 inches from the perimeter of the carpet. The center is an orange rectangle, multiple ancient looking patterns are positioned all over the carpet. SCP- -7 through 12 seem to change in appearance every cycle.
While trying to transfer SCP- -3 into custom made storage chamber B-09 at the North Dakota storage facility, it was discovered that it is seemingly impossible to move SCP- -3. As of now, 2 attempts have been made to move SCP- -3. Test 1 consisted of removing the walls to the building SCP- -3 was located in, and ramming into it with a semi truck going at approximately 135 mph. It resulted with the semi truck getting shattered, and the driver getting killed on impact. Test 2 consisted of removing the floor from under SCP- -3. It has been recognized that instead of falling, SCP- -3 alternatively floated, appearing to be frozen in time. SCP- -3 was able to successfully hold 1000 tons worth of weight without showing any signs of weakness. It has been concluded that once SCP- has relocated for a cycle, nothing can be done to move it until its next cycle.
