Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4478 is to be kept inside a 1x1x1 meter glass case and is illuminated by a standard display light placed over the object’s case. A standard-sized containment room should be used to house SCP-4478. Checks for damage to SCP-4478 or it’s case are to be performed once daily. A 5x5 meter restriction area is to be maintained around the case, and Level 2 Personnel or higher may enter the containment area.
All personnel are restricted from interacting with SCP-4478 unless given permission from a Head Scientist, Site Director, or 05 Council Member, and playing a game of chess using SCP-4478 is forbidden. Description: SCP-4478 is a 40x40 centimetre chess board made of a wooden material and contains pieces to a game of chess. When SCP-4478 is picked up, shaken, submerged, or cleaned, SCP-4478 will yield no anomalous results. However, damaging the board will result in SCP-4478 repairing within two hours, suggesting K█████ possesses regenerative properties.
Any chessmen manifesting from SCP-4478 are designated as SCP-4478-1. Tests of multiple SCP-4478-1 show the material, known as K█████, makes up both SCP-4478-1 and SCP-4478. Instances of SCP-4478-1 have been shown to change colors, notably the color set RYGBWB1.
Hands manifesting from SCP-4478 are designated SCP-4478-2, and aid the subject during the game of chess. Instances of SCP-4478-2 replicate the hands of the subject.
Attempts to begin a game of chess using SCP-4478 will result in voices asking each player (now referred to as subjects) for a color, and instances of SCP-4478-1 will become the stated color if it is apart of the RYGBWB color set. Other colors and specific shades result in SCP-4478-1 instances becoming colors of traditional chess pieces.
If a player expresses despair or a desire for assistance, a pair of hands replicating the subject’s, designated as SCP-4478-2, will appear and guide the struggling subject. If a game is left in progress or either subject leaves before the game finishes, instances of SCP-4478-1 disappear after █ hours, and instances of SCP-4478-2 after ██ minutes.

Addendum:Attempts to begin a game of chess using SCP-4478 will result in voices asking each player (now referred to as subjects) for a color, and instances of SCP-4478-1 will become the stated color if it is apart of the RYGBWB color set.
If a game results in one subject winning, one instance of SCP-4478-2 will attempt to congratulate them by shaking their hand. SCP-4478-1 instances of the winner become animated, saluting them and disappearing. No traces of the instances are found after this action. Instances belonging to the loser attempt to attack them, creating a mark of a king before disappearing. Losing subjects are confirmed to die from asphyxiation from SCP-4478-2 instances, with time of death two minutes after the game ends. Attempts to save subjects yield no results.
