Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: A small outpost disguised as the entrance to a government-controlled testing facility is to be established on both ends of SCP-XXXX, each station being manned by no less than six (6) agents of MTF Epsilon-6 ("Village Idiots"). Monthly rotation of the agents manning the outposts is required, and a each agent will undergo a full psychological evaluation after every rotation. At no point are any agents to enter into the gates enclosing SCP-XXXX, and any agents reporting feeling compelled to enter the area encompassing SCP-XXXX are to immediately report to their station supervisor to be rotated and psychologically evaluated.
Description: SCP-XXXX encompases a one (1) mile long strip of the █-██ freeway in ███████, Kansas. SCP-XXXX's effects do not extend past the bounds of the roadway of the █-██ freeway, nor do they extend upwards (see Testing Log XXXX-1); as such, it seems SCP-XXXX's effects only take hold if direct contact with the road is made.
SCP-XXXX's effects constitute a mind-altering cognitohazardous alteration of the memories involving any person who knows of or has seen any person who comes into contact with SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX, when made physical contact with, begins a transformation process in the person who touches it, creating an instance of SCP-XXXX-1. Within 1-2 hours, all persons who know of SCP-XXXX-1's existence will begin losing such knowledge, struggling to recall personal information such as name, date of birth, place of birth, etc. By hour 6, any persons physically near SCP-XXXX-1 will begin to ignore or forget SCP-XXXX-1's presence, seemingly forgetting SCP-XXXX-1 was ever previously there. 12 hours after exposure to SCP-XXXX's effects, any and all knowledge of the person who had previously been exposed will have been lost, including visibility and awareness. Effectively, this means that SCP-XXXX-1 is completely invisible, as though it is able to interact with its surroundings, it will not be registered by anyone who is around it, and any actions taken by it will be automatically dismissed by those they effect. This effect does not affect any physical records or recollections of SCP-XXXX-1's previous existence; photographs, logs, employee records, etc. will all remain as they were before. However, no memory of the person they refer to is present in any subjects previously having known SCP-XXXX-1 instances.
Addendum.1: SCP-XXXX was discovered in the rural town of ███████, Kansas, on the 20th of April, 19██. Multiple reports of the town "dying out" due to rapid population loss caught the attention of local law enforcement, which led to the involvement of locally embedded Foundation agents. The investigation went on for approximately 4 months with seemingly no anomalous traits, until Agent ███████████ noticed a seemingly misplaced Foundation ID badge with an Agent J. ███████ listed, including a photograph of said person as well as Level-3 clearance. Foundation records from local Site-██ confirmed the existence of said Agent, but no personnel could recall remembering him or his employment with the SCP Foundation. Agent ███████████ proceeded to grow confused as to why the door of his vehicle kept being opened and shut, even though there was nobody else there.
