Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: Ideally; SCP-XXXX requires no special containment procedures due to the lack of danger it possesses when unplugged. SCP-XXXX should be contained in a standard secure locker located in Site-15.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an Apple Macintosh M0116 keyboard made out of an unknown material, resembling white, water-cut plastic. The interior of SCP-XXXX is unknown, as no openings or creases that non-anomalous keyboards of the same make typically possess have been found. The Foundation has also attempted to pry out SCP-XXXX's keys but any attempts to remove them were unsuccessful. Unlike other vintage keyboards, SCP-XXXX also possesses a modern keyboard cable, allowing it to be plugged into modern devices.
When SCP-XXXX is plugged in to a device; (the plugged in device will now be referred to as SCP-XXXX-1) depending on the security of SCP-XXXX-1; it will proceed to send viruses to SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX, once plugged into SCP-XXXX-1, will send a file into SCP-XXXX-1 and will automatically open it. This file sends a virus into SCP-XXXX-1 every minute, with the next iteration being more harmful than the previous one. Life expectancy of SCP-XXXX-1 has been estimated to be around 15-20 minutes. Attempts were made to remove the file and the viruses from SCP-XXXX-1, but the attempts were unsuccessful. Unplugging SCP-XXXX from SCP-XXXX-1 has been proven to make no changes to the expected effects given to SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX was discovered in the state of [REDACTED]. SCP-XXXX came to the Foundation's attention after reports were made about the state, specifically the town [REDACTED], writing about a keyboard that has the ability to infecting devices once plugged in.
Addendum XXXX-01: SCP-XXXX is unable to attack devices that contain a specific system file. This system file is known as "gherw4". It can not be viewed without the use of programs specifically designed for locating hidden files. The use of this system file or how it prevents SCP-XXXX from attacking is currently unknown.
Addendum XXXX-03: A note was found during the initial discovery of SCP-XXXX. the note was found besides the SCP. It reads as follows:
If you're reading this, you've probably noticed this keyboard besides the note. If you're thinking of taking this keyboard for yourself, I highly recommend changing your decision. This thing is not normal. I don't know how it did it, but when I used it; it caused my computer to be broken beyond repair. If you still want to take the keyboard, go ahead, just know you're risking the life of your computer.
