SCP-5046 in its inert state

Item #: SCP-5083

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5083 must be kept within a 50cm x 50cm x 50cm cubic box filled with a non-corrosive liquid that must be cleaned and replaced every month. The inside of the box must have no light access of any kind and sealed at all times unless properly authorized. When replacing the box, the room that SCP-5083 is in must be kept dark and sealed with double solid lead-steel alloy doors. The only light allowed is UV Light as this doesn't seem to affect SCP-5083. SCP-5083 must be kept in Site-██ as this site offers the tools to contain SCP-5083.

At no time should any personnel without the proper paperwork and official higher-up authorization of Dr. ████ should enter SCP-5083's containment chamber. Those who are authorized to enter must wear night-vision goggles and carry black-light flashlights.

Any changes to SCP-5083's behavior must be reported to Dr. ████. In the case of containment breach, all power must be cut from the building to ensure that no light sources are on. Task Force [REDACTED] and Dr. ████ must be directed to the building and no personnel can leave.

Description: SCP-5083 is a spherical-shaped ball of black color 2cm in diameter. Testing revealed it to be a solid bouncy ball made of unknown material. Testing has also revealed that SCP-5083 is able to regenerate parts of itself when torn apart and has no special properties when in its inert state.

SCP-5083 was found in a safe in the basement of the █████████ family mansion on ██/██/19██. Task Force [REDACTED] was sent to retrieve it. One of the neighbors called the police when the family was not seen for months. The SPC Foundation was deployed shortly later. When asked, local residents reported that the family bought it from a garage sale and were not seen again that day. The residents also stated that the house was completely dark with no way to see into it.

In darkness, SCP-5083 is inert and does nothing out of the ordinary. When exposed to any form of viewable levels of light, SCP-5083 will emit a dark fog-like shadow that engulfs any living thing it touches. Light also doesn't not appear to show up when in contact with SCP-5083. Those engulfed in SCP-5083's shadow is to be considered lost and no rescue mission is to be initiated. Those who do emerge from SCP-5083's shadow are to be classified as SCP-5083-1.

SCP-5083-1: Those who emerge from SCP-5083's shadow is to be identified as SCP-5083-1 and are to be contained and have a mental evaluation. SCP-5083-1 appears as a human of varying age and size with no observable shadow and an apparent monochrome body. Tests on SCP-5083-1 show that the subject has no recollection of anything prior to emerging from SCP-5083's shadow. Although SCP-5083-1 is not violent towards other, it has thoughts of harming itself with most cases ending in the suicide of itself. Further testing must be done to ensure accurate results.
