Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter (Im pretty sure its keter, maybe apollyon? If it is, it feels like I've bitten off more than I can chew. But it has containment procedures so its not right? even though it will eventually break out of them)
Special Containment Procedures: The current SCP-XXXX-C should be kept on standard coma patient life support systems and should have all measures taken to extend SCP-XXXX-C's life span. Should the current SCP-XXXX-C's die then a new instance of SCP-XXXX-C should be induced. When a SCP-XXXX-1 instance has confirmed to be a SCP-XXXX-C instance, they should be set into a medically induced coma immediately to stop further progression of SCP-XXXX phases. Should a containment breach occur then lead reasearcher for SCP-XXXX must find a lower level researcher to induce into a SCP-XXXX-1 and try to confirm a SCP-XXXX-C.
(Containment after Researcher ███████ (being lazy? Do i need a name?) needs better procedures, maybe they could just be proposals?)
summary [currently held in a researcher who's greatest fear was SCP-XXXX itself, an induced coma during phase 1 after the research saw what SCP-XXXX looked like. They have been comatised during phase 2 so that SCP-XXXX is traped with in its own feeding ritural. once the researcher dies then a D-Class should be told about SCP-XXXX in a attemt to make it its greatest fear. Then completing the same steps as before untill that D-Class has died.]
Description: SCP-XXXX is a sentient memetic being that takes the form of what ever its targets (here by referred as SCP-XXXX-1) greatest current fear is, subject to SCP-XXXX's interpretation. To date there have been ██ recorded variations of SCP-XXXX's appearance. When SCP-XXXX-1 views SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX-1 will show signs of fear in line with that beings personality leading researchers to theorize that should a sentient being fear nothing or have control of their greatest fear they may be able to unaffected by SCP-XXXX's anomalous effects. This however has be difficult to test, testing has been put on hold after failed testing resulted in ██ deaths. SCP-XXXX has 4 phases of anomalous effects. These phases have been dubbed 'Contact', 'Recurrence', 'Entrapment' and finally 'Feeding'. See Addendum XXXX-1 for details on these phases.
It is not currently known how SCP-XXXX chooses SCP-XXXX-1 or if it can choose many SCP-XXXX-1 instances at once. However, through testing it is known that SCP-XXXX can be 'transmitted' by a verbal or written description of any 'Contact' phase or 'Recurrence' phase to another sentient being. SCP-XXXX also has other means of choosing new SCP-XXXX-1 instances outside of this 'transmission' but they are currently unknown. Further research is required and should be approved by at least 2 (two) level-4 staff members. Once a sentient being has become SCP-XXXX-1 instance, it is unknown then they will begin the first phase of anomalous effects {footnote: this has lead some researchers to believe that every sentient being ever is a SCP-XXXX-1 instance and SCP-XXXX is just waiting to feed}.
Once SCP-XXXX has finished its 'Feeding' phase SCP-XXXX-1 will no longer be a target but will be marked with a scared cross on the back of the neck where it meets the base of the skull (here by refereed as SCP-XXXX-2). The scar suggests that the skin has been opened to access the base of the skull but further medical examination shows that this is not the case. SCP-XXXX-2 instances suffer from a few non-anomalous effects for the rest of their life such as;
-No longer having the capability of dreaming
-No longer feel fear for their previous greatest fear
-Have trouble sleeping for longer than 2 hours at a time
-Have a much higher pain tolerance
-Have a much higher tendency of suicide
These effects, if left untreated, usually mean that any SCP-XXXX-2 instance will end its own life with in █ to █ weeks.
Addendem XXXX-1:
SCP-XXXX anomalous effects go through a predictable pattern of stages, it should be noted that these stages can be interfered with.
Stage 1 'Contact':
As the name suggests stage 1 is the first time that a sentient being will become a SCP-XXXX-1 instance. During this phase if it made aware that they are a true SCP-XXXX-1 instance then the being can be put into a induced coma to stop the SCP-XXXX-1 instance going through any more stages. The first contact that a being will have with SCP-XXXX will be in the form of a night terror, depicting SCP-XXXX-1's worst fear. This can be anything from an object to an event or even just a feeling {footnote: it is unknown SCP-XXXX's of form}. This will eventually result in SCP-XXXX-1 screaming its-self awake. This marks the end of stage 1.
Stage 2 'Recurrence':
Stage 2 is similar to stage 1 but will occur over the period of █ weeks. Only allowing SCP-XXXX-1 to get a maximum of 2 hours of sleep each time, jolting them awake, screaming, at the 2 hour mark. This stage will effect SCP-XXXX-1 each time they close their eyes, meaning that even blinking will cause them to see SCP-XXXX. Most SCP-XXXX-1 instances tend to go insane during this phase, it is recommended to subdue any SCP-XXXX-1 instances in phase 2 for the safety of others around them.
Stage 3 'Entrapment':
During this stage SCP-XXXX-1 instances will not be able to tell the difference between being asleep and being awake. They will constantly see SCP-XXXX in everything they do. This causes instances of SCP-XXXX-1 to become almost numb to outside stimuli due to the constant intense fear felt by SCP-XXXX-1.
Stage 4 'Feeding':
Similarly to stage 3 this stage see's instances of SCP-XXXX-1 to be completely numb to outside stimuli and
