Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained within an airtight locker, with inspections to be performed bi-weekly. The object should not be exposed to human skin, including dust. Filters in the chamber should be replaced weekly. Should the object enter an active state, all air in the chamber should be vented and replaced with pure hydrochloric acid. Two (2) 100-liter tanks are required for this purpose. The containers should be replaced monthly.
Additionally, should any SCP-XXXX-A be created, they are to be contained within a standard human containment unit. Any researchers who enter the unit should do so in full HAZMAT gear.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a faded brown patterned scarf currently two meters in length. SCP-XXXX exhibits an unusual resistance to all forms of damage but is most susceptible to acid. The object has shown regenerative properties: mending itself by creating and intertwining threads. Currently, no amount of damage has been able to destroy SCP-XXXX, but acid greatly hinders its anomalous properties [See Testing Log].
If SCP-XXXX comes into contact with human skin, it will enter its active state. During this active state, the object will rapidly grow in size and attempt to find a host. SCP-XXXX gains locomotion by rapid flexing of its threads. SCP-XXXX has been recorded at moving up to 25 k/ph. In addition to increased speed, the material of SCP-XXXX hardens significantly, while still maintaining its flexible properties. SCP-XXXX will remain in this active state for approximately 2 hours, before returning to its original state.
Once a host is found (now designated SCP-XXXX-A), SCP-XXXX will wrap itself around the host, increasing its length significantly in the process. The object will completely cover the host, only leaving a hole for the nose. After 10-15 minutes, SCP-XXXX will begin to secrete acid. Interestingly, this acid does not appear to affect SCP-XXXX. No samples of this acid are currently available.
SCP-XXXX-A will feel a tingling sensation for the first 15 minutes after the acid begins to form. Subjects have reported it as "like when your foot falls asleep, but everywhere." After 30 minutes, this sensation will become more painful, reported as "like when you touch something really cold, and it burns." After an hour, the subject experiences significant pain. This is the object beginning to digest the subject. After this point, subjects will fall unconscious. It is unknown whether this is an effect of the object, or simply due to pain.
SCP-XXXX will fully begin digesting SCP-XXXX-A. The object will slowly begin to curl inward, decreasing its length in the process. After 30 to 45 minutes, the object will have fully finished digesting the subject. It will then shrink back down to its original length, 5 to 10 cm longer. SCP-XXXX will not enter another active state for 2 to 3 weeks.
