CONTAINMENT CLASS: SAFE (PENDING-EUCLID)
Special containment procedure.
Direct Observation of the #### entity is currently forbidden by order of the Site Director.
The SCP-#### entity is to be kept in a 4000 L. aquarium, stocked with sea creatures. These fish are to be introduced to the tank via a tube in order to avoid direct contact. The containment cell is to be kept dimly lit with dark blue light.
Any personnel heard complimenting or asking about ####’s condition are to be immediately reported and psychologically evaluated and/or restrained for 3 days.
In (hopefully) unlikely the event of a containment breach, seafood is to be given to The SCP-#### entity until it returns to its Aquarium.
Description
SCP The SCP-#### entity is a large, purple starfish, most closely resembling Solaster Dawsoni, the morning sun star. It is approx. 50 cm in diameter and exceptionally fast for a starfish, moving at about 10 cm per second. It has 9 arms and is estimated to weigh about 1.5 kilograms.
The SCP-#### entity apparently wants to be praised and fed. It uses psychic abilities to bring people into its orbit and they will worship the starfish. This effect is referred to as ####-A or “Star Struck”. While very strong and anomalous, this effect is not permanent. Entities under the effects of ####-A will feed and compliment and do the bidding of the #### entity. When The SCP-#### entity is fed and satisfied, it will send the affected entity away. These entities, when out of the SCP-#### entity’s presence, will no longer directly serve the SCP-#### entity, but will continue to speak highly of and worry about the SCP-#### entity’s well-being for up to 36 hours, at which point they will return to normal.
Addendum #1 - Discovery
The SCP-#### entity was discovered when a startling trend of social media activity surfaced on the pacific coast of Mexico. Periodically, the SCP-#### entity would come to the shore and be fed and praised, then go back into the ocean. The local community would then buzz for 3 days about “La Estrella Del Mar Regia” or “The Regal Sea Star”. It became clear that this wasn’t just a regular local obsession when a man reportedly accidentally touched the starfish. He was beaten to a pulp and had his hands flayed and fileted and served to the SCP-#### entity. All of this was filmed by a cheering crowd and posted on social media.
Foundation personnel attempted to secure the SCP-#### entity without force but were quickly driven out by adoring crowds. A three-man MTF was sent in but ended up praising and feeding the starfish. The beach eventually had to be closed down and amnestics administered. Personnel who had been fully convinced that the starfish would be safest in foundation custody then lured the SCP-#### entity into a fish tank and quickly ferried it to Site 73.
Addendum #2- Baseline Situation
10 D-Class are sent into ####’s containment cell with various foods to offer.
9 out of 10 are perfectly happy to serve food to the #### entity. They go about cleaning up around ####’s containment cell and lavishing compliments upon the #### entity.
1 out of 10 are terrified and attempt to escape the containment cell.
The ####-A affected D-class become annoyed and get ready to murder the non-affected. The test is stopped before they succeed.
It seems that there are a few people who are instead affected by a condition called ####-B. in this case, the subject becomes irrationally afraid of the #### entity. Further tests should be done to find out what causes such a difference. Maybe people are naturally terrified of ####, and ####-B is just being normal.
Addendum #3- Other Animals
An assortment of benign sea creatures introduced to the containment cell.
10 Common Sardines – fish move in unison, circling the #### entity. One by one, they swim to the ground and allow The SCP-#### entity to crawl over and devour them.
Sea anemone – The SCP-#### entity moves to touch the anemone, strokes it a few times, and moves away. Anemone begins flailing wildly until removed.
Sea Urchin – The SCP-#### entity seems uninterested in being close to the urchin. The urchin attempts to crawl towards ####, causing ####-A affected subjects to attempt to break containment.
Blue Crab (claws banded) – crab circles and raises their claws to the #### entity. The SCP-#### entity crawls onto the back on the crab and rides it around the tank. The crab is eventually eaten.
Sea Star - SCP-#### immediately moves at top speed towards the Sea Star. Painful screeching heard across the site. many personnel found unconscious. ####-A affected subjects attempt suicide. The observing researcher attempts to rip off his thumbs. Starfish is ripped apart and left uneaten. Do not repeat this experiment.
Addendum #4 - Touchy
After all ####-A instances have been cured, send the ####-B affected D-Class in to and task her to touch ####-A:
D-Class: Okay I’ve gone into the room; I want out now.
Dr. Annette: surely you aren’t so dumb as to think the whole test is just you going in?
D: I swear I will kill you. What do I have to do to get out of here?
Annette: touch the sea star.
D: *extended silence*
Annette: hello?
D: No. come kill me or whatever. You sick fucks expect me to touch that thing?
Annette: yes, we do, and you aren’t leaving the room until you starve or you touch it.
D class slowly moves towards the SCP- #### entity, breathing heavily and cursing. She gets to the tank and reaches in quickly to touch it. She runs back to the door and begs to be let out. Dr. Annette allows the door to be opened. No ill effects are documented.
Addendum #5 - ####-A Direct Study
Researcher familiar with the mechanics of memetics and psychology (Dr. Brasse) is sent to become affected by ####-A. she will then be evaluated and evaluate herself.
Dr. Brasse feeds and praises The SCP-#### entity as normal, then leaves without incident.
Dr. Brasse throttles the ####-B affected D-class to death. She is put into a containment cell. This experiment is ended.
Addendum #6 - ####-A Without food
The SCP-#### entity is left without food for 3 days. A D-Class is sent in without food.
The SCP-#### entity is visually stressed, its movements are wild and erratic.
D class is sent into the room. He immediately walks over and allows the #### entity to crawl on hand.
After 30 minutes of praise, d-class’s thenar eminence and thumb are simply bones.
D-Class cleans up around the tank with his non-mangled hand.
He leaves the containment Cell and receives medical treatment.
Addendum #7 - Shark
Nurse shark introduced to aquarium with well-fed #### entity.
the #### entity seems curious about the shark, while shark appears to suffer from ####-B.
Shark jumps out of aquarium, causing fatal damage to its body
Study is ended.
Addendum #8 - Attempts to isolate another ####-B instance
50 D-Class are, one by one, exposed to a well-fed #### entity. All of them leave the room without any issue and begin their 36-hour quarantine.
Study is ended.
Addendum #9 - tissue extraction
All personnel are moved far enough away from the containment cell to avoid the shrieking encountered in test Addendum #3.
Drone is sent in to extract a small piece of the SCP-#### entity tissue for study.
Drone footage shows no issues, with the drone taking about half of an arm and leaving.
the #### entity heals within 6 hours.
Study of tissue shows no clear difference from regular starfish, though research will continue.
Addendum #10 - after hours security footage, 1913 hours.
Two ####-A affected subjects escape containment.
Annette is dragged into the SCP-#### entity-containment cell.
The #### entity sits on the ground outside the aquarium.
Dr. Annette is forced to her knees.
One of the two takes out a hammer and splits Dr. Annette’s skull. She goes limp, but still screams while the hammer is used to cleave the hole wider.
the #### entity crawls onto her head and over the hole.
Dr. Annette screams even louder. She then falls silent for 15 minutes.
Dr. Annette’s body stands and looks directly at the security camera.
One of the ####-A affected subjects says “La Estrella del Mar Regia dice ‘esta es una advertencia’”
The other ####-A affected subject destroys the security camera.
The #### entity and the ####-A affected subjects then proceed to attack and kill all onsite janitorial staff. 9 dead.
Security MTF arrives to find the #### entity and ####-A affected subjects fully contained.
Addendum #11 - isolation
The #### entity will be left unobserved and be fed every day via fish tube, to see if this has any ill effects.
This will be done indefinitely.
Test is ongoing.
