Item #: SCP-5XXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5XXX is to be kept in a 10m by 10m by 10m concrete chamber with adequate lighting. As video surveillance is impossible, no fewer than two (2) guards are to be stationed behind the reinforced-glass wall in the east of SCP-5XXX's cell. To the west of the main containment cell is a secondary cell measuring 6m by 10m by 6m, fit with a chair, a lamp, and a fern. This cell is reserved for appointments only. The two cells are connected by a steel mesh screen to allow verbal communication between the two rooms.

Both rooms are to be cleaned and the fern is to be watered once a week. During this time, SCP-5XXX is to be given a choice to roam the facility with at least two (2) guard escorts, or assist in the cleaning of its cell.

Any staff members stationed within a 1-kilometer radius around SCP-5XXX's containment cell who is experiencing loss of a loved one, close friend, pet, or the like should notify the site director immediately. The staff member experiencing loss is to be brought into SCP-5XXX's secondary containment cell for a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the end of their work day on weekdays of the site director's specification. In the event that no staff member has experienced a loss in the past month, all staff assigned to SCP-5XXX are to find somebody who has experienced loss recently. See Addendum 1.

Description:SCP-5XXX is a humanoid entity roughly 3.1 meters in height. Its body is primarily composed of a luminous substance of unknown composition. It lacks any facial features, internal organs, or any other features vital to sustain human life. All living creatures nearby seem to be acutely aware of its presence, regardless of any actual ability to sense its surroundings.

SCP-5XXX is able to verbally communicate with subjects, as well as being able to telepathically communicate to any nearby sentient beings. While it is not known to actively seek out conversation, it will often make efforts to sustain wavering discussions on topics such as death, the circle of life, and grief associated with the loss of a close friend or relative. Though conversations are commonly reported as engaging and sympathetic, it is unknown whether SCP-5XXX is sentient.
