Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be surrounded by a 30 meter diameter, 5 meter high barrier wall. Unauthorized personnel are to be given Class-C anmestics and transported to Grant Village. Personnel are not to enter SCP-XXXX's containment area without approval from a Level 3 Researcher or above, and are to be accompanied by two armed guards.
SCP-XXXX-1 instances are to be incapacitated and either returned to SCP-XXXX via the use of mechanical crane, or sent to on-site cold storage. Testing of SCP-XXXX is to be approved by a Level 3 Researcher or above As of Incident XXXX-1, testing of SCP-XXXX has been prohibited until further notice. SCP-XXXX-1G is currently contained within the Humanoid Containment Wing of Site 763, and psychological screening is mandatory for all researchers assigned to it.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a 25-diameter area containing an indeterminate amount of skeletal remains, located 57 miles from Yellowstone Lake. These include:
- Several hundred Ursus arctos horribilis (Grizzly Bear)
- At least 329 Bison bison (American Bison)
- Several hundred Puma concolor (Mountain Lion)
- 3,000 to 3,500 Rodentia specimens
- At least 57 Homo Sapien (Human)
Along with these are an unknown amount of reptile, avian and amphibian skeletal remains. When a subject (i.e. any sentient organism) enters within 3 meters of the SCP-XXXX perimeter, the subject will begin to experience auditory hallucinations, consisting of whispering and distress calls. If the subject enters within one meter, SCP-XXXX-1 instances will grab them and begin to pull them into SCP-XXXX. After 30 minutes to 1 hour, the subject will reemerge as an instance of SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX-1 refers to any individual skeleton within SCP-XXXX. Despite lacking muscles and organs, XXXX-1 instances are fully animate and sentient, expressing hostility towards all entities. Examination of XXXX-1 instances have revealed no brain matter or internal biological matter. XXXX-1 instances have been observed attempting to exit SCP-XXXX through climbing trees, crawling along the ground or pulling themselves onto rocks. These escape attempts are rarely successful. XXXX-1 instances retain animation upon exiting SCP XXXX, however they can be incapacitated by blunt force. All instances are capable of vocalization, but coherent communication has not been observed. Instances have been observed expressing hostility towards other instances.
Recovery: On 4/12/1902, Foundation operatives intercepted a letter to the National Park Service detailing information about SCP-XXXX. The letter's sender, Daniel Henley, was apprehended and brought in for questioning. After revealing information about SCP-XXXX's location, Daniel Henley was delivered Class-B anmestics and returned to the nearby Grant Village. SCP-XXXX's recovery resulted in four casualties due to its unknown abilities at the time.
Addendum XXXX-1: The following experiment was to determine the extent of SCP XXXX's abilities.
Test XXXX-1 - 1/10/1903
Subject: One (1) D-class, D-5621
Procedure: Allow D-class to enter SCP-XXXX, then retrieve via cable attached to waist
Results: D-5621 was successfully retrieved from SCP-XXXX. For a period of four days, SCP-XXXX appeared to increase in activity, with XXXX-1 instances exiting more frequently and with more aggression. On day five, a previously unidentified XXXX-1 instance (determined to be a specimen of Ceratosaurus nasicornis) exited SCP-XXXX and attempted to breach containment. XXXX-1 instance was incapacitated after one hour and twenty minutes, resulting in 11 casualties.
Analysis: Post tracking of all XXXX-1 instances determined the entities were attmepting to reach D-5621. D-5621 was quickly sent into SCP XXXX. No further abnormal activity has followed.
Addendum XXXX-2: On 11/5/2003, geological scans of SCP-XXXX revealed a previously unknown hot spring at the bottom of SCP-XXXX, measuring 130 degrees Celsius. The following test was to determine the contents of the hot spring.
Test B - 11/7/2003
Subject: One (1) aquifer pipe and pump system.
Procedure: Insert the pipe through SCP-XXXX, make contact with the hot spring, and extract a five liter sample.
Results: Pipe was brought into SCP-XXXX via mechanical crane. After five minutes, pipe was confirmed to be inside the hot spring. The sample was collected without incident. XXXX-1 instances attempted to climb the piping, however they were incapacitated by armed guards.
Analysis: Sample was determined to be 50% water, 18% mixture of liquified animal cells, and 32% was an unidentified amoeba species, designated SCP-XXXX-2. Testing revealed it to be a relative to Naegleria fowleri, however their digestive process is nearly eight times faster than N.floweri. Comparison to samples taken from nearby bodies of water revealed that 28% held lethal amounts of SCP-XXXX-2.
Incident XXXX-1: On 11/15/2003, Researcher Garret Kushman was pulled into SCP-XXXX after unknowingly entering within an XXXX-1's grabbing range. After 43 minutes, a new XXXX-1 instance was sighted and determined to be Researcher Garret by a I.D. card around the neck. Instance was monitored for abnormal behavior.
After four days, the XXXX-1 instance (now designated SCP-XXXX-1G) managed to exit SCP-XXXX and began walking towards the containment perimeter. Upon confrontation from guards, XXXX-1G kneeled down with its hands behind its head. XXXX-1G was transported to on-site humanoid containment without incident.
