Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a 76.2 cm x 30.5 cm x 33 cm terrarium in the first-floor personnel break room, supplied with the following objects at all times:
- One (1) standard reptilian heat lamp, to be situated in the back-right corner of the enclosure
- Two (2) 10 cm x 10 cm x 3 cm dishes, one used for food, and the other for providing subject with water for bathing and drinking
- One (1) of non-abrasive, absorbent carpet, cut to fit the bottom of the subject's enclosure
- One (1) large shelter with enough space for subject to hide underneath if it so wishes and enough surface area on top to allow subject to sunbathe via the provided heat lamp
SCP-XXXX's terrarium must be cleaned bi-weekly and fed a diet of standard mealworms, six (6) every two days. A log is kept next to the enclosure to ensure that SCP-XXXX is not overfed.
Personnel are allowed one (1) song of their choice written on a 7 cm x 7 cm sticky note during their allocated break time. Sticky note shall be placed on the outside top-left corner of the enclosure, and must not be removed until SCP-XXXX finishes playing the designated song. Song choice must follow guidelines written in Addendum XXXX-C. Personnel who disobey these guidelines are subject to disciplinary action.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an adult female specimen of the species Eublepharis macularius, or common leopard gecko, measuring 18.3 centimeters from tail to snout and weighing approximately 66 grams. SCP-XXXX's skin, while in a non-active state, is a chalky white color devoid of any markings. Biologically and behaviorally, SCP-XXXX displays no differences from a standard, non-anomalous leopard gecko. SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties manifest when any written title of a song is brought within a 1 m radius of it. After this threshold is crossed, SCP-XXXX will quickly develop coloration and markings evocative of the first official soundtrack release that the song title belongs to, taking anywhere from four (4) seconds to eight (8) seconds to complete the transformation.
Following the transformation of SCP-XXXX's coloration and markings, it will begin to play the song in question. SCP-XXXX is believed to have a means to tell what volume to play the song at that best suits all individuals nearby, as test subjects have shown that some songs play loudly for those who specifically requested the song played, and quietly for those that care not for the music; however, further research is ongoing. Upon completion of a song, SCP-XXXX reverts back to its non-active coloration and markings.
Addendum XXXX-A: SCP-XXXX was brought into Foundation custody by Agent Markus on ██/█/20██, who was embedded in ██████████ Elementary School in █████████, Virginia, as a janitor. During his time undercover, he was alerted to the presence of a "singing lizard" by a group of students. After his investigation, SCP-XXXX was recovered from the home of James and Melanie ████████ by Agent Markus on █/██/20██, who were administered Class-A amnestics following recovery. A personal log kept by Agent Markus can be accessed in Addendum XXXX-D.
