Item #: SCP-5120
Object Class:Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-5120 is enclosed in Site 5120-A, a 4 kilometer x 4 kilometer “Restriction Zone” in which all unauthorized personnel are prohibited from accessing. Any and all captured instances of SCP-5130-1 are to be contained in the underground facility Site 5120-B, located in Site 5120-A. Stationed at Site 5120-A is an elite Mobile Task Force Unit consisting of:
•100 ground troops
•10 Humvees, equipped with LMGs
•20 ATVs
•1 General Atomics MQ-1 Predator Drone
•3 M1A2 Abrams MBTs (see Addendum)
Any unauthorized personnel are to be restrained from entrance with force and if need be, terminated. Any escaped instances of SCP-5120-1 are to be strategically crippled with use of the garrisoned firepower, and then stored in Site 5120-B. Any tests or entrance into Site 5120-A or 5120-B are to be scheduled in a minimum of one week in advance.
Description:
SCP-5120 is a 50 meter by 34 meter freshwater pond in the Coconino National Forest region in the state of Arizona, USA. The pond is completely devoid of wildlife under the waterline, but local wildlife does inhabit the surrounding areas. The depth of the pond varies daily, with sonar measurements reading as little as 3 meters to the bottom to as deep as 68,000 kilometers. The water on the surface is completely opaque and any waves or ripples dissipate quickly. The bottom of the pond is actually an illusion, with solid objects being able to pass through. Upon passing through the “bottom” of SCP-5120, the object sent through will emerge through the surface of an identical pond in an alternate dimension known as SCP-5120-Alpha. SCP-5120-Alpha is a land geographically identical to that of earth, but the only life forms to inhabit it are the somewhat rare instances of SCP-5120-1. SCP-5120-1s are an unknown humanoid species that stands between 60 and 80 meters tall, made entirely out of a black stone similar to granite. However, despite being inorganic, they are capable of full locomotion and have regeneration abilities. They possess no facial features, gender, internal organs, fingers, or toes. They have shown to be peaceful unless provoked, in which case they will attack ruthlessly. Their purpose and origin are unclear, as they spend all of their time silently wandering SCP-5120-Alpha. They are not affected by the physics and time of SCP-5120-Alpha, both of which change on a regular basis. They have been shown to cross over into the human world via SCP-5120, see the Addendum for more information on this.
Addendum:
Incident 5120-X: At approximately 2:04 A.M, on █ █/█ █/█ █ █ █, Foundation Personnel patrolling Site 5120-A noticed heavy turbulence in the waters of SCP-5120. Minutes later, a 73- meter tall instance of SCP-5120-1 emerged, and prompted the MTF to attack. At first, the instance made no note of the attacking force, but began defending itself upon noticing heavy damage. After the loss of roughly half of Site 5120-A’s forces, the limbs of the hostile SCP-5120-1 had been destroyed, rendering it almost incapable of movement. It was moved into the pre-prepared Site 5120-B, where it had fully regenerated in about one day. It has shown no hostilities since then, and researchers regularly collect samples and conduct experiments with it. After the incident, the O5 council granted heavier firepower to be stationed at Site 5120-A, in the form of 3 M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tanks. No incidents have happened since.
Test A - 09/12/2018
Subject: SCP-5120, D-12769
Procedure: Male D-class subject designated D-12769 is equipped with scuba gear, scientific instruments, a combat knife, and a camera. D-12769 is sent through SCP-5120 and into SCP-5120-Alpha. Subject reports “feeling much lighter”, this is due to altered gravity inside of SCP-5120-Alpha. Subject wanders around for 4 hours, collecting dirt samples and encountering a friendly instance of SCP-5120-1. Subject travels to the top of a hill, and video camera footage reports a geographically identical terrain to that of Earth. Subject is sent back through SCP-5120 into the human world and is studied by scientists.
Results: Test SUCCESS- No errors
Analysis: D-12769 grew 5 centimeters and aged 20 years inside of SCP-5120-Alpha, this is due to time distortion in the anomaly. Dirt samples collected by the subject were studied thoroughly, and have been discovered to be made of [REDACTED]. Samples suggest that SCP-5120-Alpha is completely incapable of sustaining plant life due to the materials in the soil.
