Item #: SCP-XXXX
A Patch of SCP-XXXX Growth near cave entrance
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX’s cave entrance and a 3km radius around it have been designated as Site-1014 under the guise of a geological survey. All hiking trails leading to SCP-XXXX’s cave entrance are to be redirected away to other locations. The entrance to SCP-XXXX’s area is to be surrounded by a 3-meter-tall reinforced concrete wall with a biodome covering the open-air area. Watchtowers should be able to view the inside of the perimeter with no issues. No fewer than ten heavily armed guards are to be present at Site-1014 at any given time. On-site aerosol incendiary sprayers are to be activated in the event of a large group of SCP-XXXX-1 entities emerging from the cave’s entrance. In the event of a sprayer malfunction or a containment breach, MTF Epsilon-4 ("Mob Mentality") should be notified and mobilize to Site-1014.
The only way to access the interior of the dome is via a bullet-resistant reverse pressure airlock equipped with sprayers containing antibiotic solvent; the airlock is to be positioned at the opposite end of the cave’s entrance. Should this airlock be breached, High impulse thermobaric fuel-air incendiaries (HITs) will be released from the onsite sprayers. Any moss growth witnessed outside the cave entrance is to be removed via incineration as any herbicides used are largely ineffective. Under no circumstances should personnel use explosive weapons when in the presence of SCP-XXXX. See incident log-XXXX-12.
At no time are any research personnel including the Moss removal team (MRT) to enter the dome without armed escort (See incident log-XXXX-20) with the exception of D-class personnel. All personnel on-site are always required to wear level 4 hazmat gear and full-face hooded respirators.
All testing on SCP-XXXX must be authorized by a majority vote of the O5 Council in conjunction with authorization from the acting site manager. Testing must only be carried out using D-class personnel who are uninformed about SCP-XXXX's nature. When a subject belonging to kingdom Animalia encounters a single spore or growth originating from SCP-XXXX, via contact to exposed skin or inhalation, the moss will attach and sprout on the flesh of the subject and begin to grow to cover the epidermis and eventually control all motor function to form an instance of SCP-XXXX-1. At the moment, there is no known way to remove SCP-XXXX from an affected subject. All attempts to do so result in partial removal of the brain stem and immediate expiration of the subject.
An instance of SCP-XXXX-1 will retain total cognitive capacity and fully feels and cognizes what is happening to it. SCP-XXXX achieves this by extending root-like appendages into the cerebellum of its victims, granting SCP-XXXX control of all motor functions without inhibiting higher brain function. Groups of SCP-XXXX-1 instances will form a mental link in a hivemind fashion, which makes large groups of infected animals pose a significant threat to containment personnel.
All human subjects exposed to a growth of SCP-XXXX will begin to be influenced by an incorporeal entity (from this point on SCP-XXXX-1A) referred to by SCP-XXXX-1 entities only as “he.” See interview log-23-457 for details.
Addendum A1: Note: SCP-XXXX has attempted to breach containment using coordinated attacks of SCP-XXXX-1 all with increasing levels of success as if it is learning. I have put in a request for additional security forces to be transferred onsite.
