Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Areas believed to be inhabited by an instance of SCP-XXXX are to be enclosed by electrified fence or other sufficient deterrents to human beings, allowing SCP-XXXX a minimum area of ███ km2 centered around the area believed to be its den. Settlements within this area are to be evacuated during daylight hours as soon as the presence of SCP-XXXX is confirmed. A small number of guards are to patrol outside the fenced area in pairs, making full perimeter checks every six hours to inspect the perimeter for signs of human entry or damage to the enclosure.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a species of predatory lifeform that, while not imperceptible, have displayed a possibly anomalous ability1 to avoid detection. Despite never being fully seen, the following probable traits have been extrapolated via auditory analysis, the testimony of survivors, and exploration of SCP-XXXX's environment, and are listed in order of certainty:

  1. SCP-XXXX is a carnivorous animal. This can be inferred by the consumption of carcasses attributed to its attacks.
  2. SCP-XXXX is nocturnal and endothermic. The vast majority of attacks take place during the night; this combined with the cold climates of its environments typically leave ectothermic creatures lethargic.
  3. SCP-XXXX is extraordinarily intelligent, having previously attacked agents attempting to set up electronic surveillance devices, avoided traps set in an attempt to contain it, and killed █ Foundation personnel in under ten minutes while entirely evading detection despite four-direction camera coverage.
  4. SCP-XXXX is exceptionally durable, having survived a 5 kg explosive believed to be detonated within a meter of itself without death or significant injury.
  5. SCP-XXXX is a solitary predator. No two SCP-XXXX attacks occur both concurrently and in the same area, and other large predators in the area are killed in the attacks or driven out when an instance of SCP-XXXX arrives (consistent with studies of Panthera tigris tigris and Canis lupus albus; this same scenario is to be used as a cover story when applicable).
