SCP-5215 in its containment cell
Item #: SCP-5215
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: The containment of SCP-5215 is reliant on a perpetual rosary — unceasing prayer of the Holy Rosary by nuns, specifically of the Catholic faith. Nuns must maintain eye contact during their prayer or it will be rendered ineffective, as seen in Incident 5251-3.
SCP-5215 is currently held in a 7 m x 5 m x 3 m holding cell constructed from concrete with the front wall being constructed from a pane bulletproof glass — allowing eye contact to be maintained at all times. Lighting is to remain dim so as to not strain the eyes of the nuns during their prayer.
A line of white acrylic paint infused with sodium chloride surrounds the entity within its holding cell, added following Incident 5251-1. SCP-5215 is capable of breaking through the lining but it serves as an effective backup deterrent as it slows down the entity's advance, buying time for Foundation personnel to regain control of the situation. Four cardioid microphones mounted on the walls are to be used for a live audio feed, continuous recording, and the detection of any unusual activity. 24/7 CCTV surveillance is to monitor the exterior of SCP-5215's holding cell to monitor the status of the nuns.
Description: SCP-5215 is a humanoid Tartarean entity approximately 2 meters in height while in its shadow form. Its height will vary when mimicking others, matching theirs on a virtually perfect level. It was first captured on June 6th, 2006 in the city of Salem on the north coast of Massachusetts.
The field agents who recovered the entity presume it was summoned by the local cult known as [TO BE NAMED] due to the presence of ritualistic markings on their property coinciding with the time of capture. SCP-5215 was found inside the cult's compound along with six cult members in a catatonic state. The entity quickly got hold of one of the field agents.
In an attempt to minimize further casualties and convince the entity to enter custody willingly, Agent Crane attempted to negotiate with SCP-5215. Upon asking what it wants, the entity stated it would only agree to be taken into custody if, in return, it would be provided with a regular supply of living human subjects. No specifications regarding sex, race, or age were made. SCP-5215 was then taken to Armed Reliquary and Containment Area-02 without any resistance.
Three books were recovered at the origin point of SCP-5215: De Praestigiis Daemonum, Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, and Ars Goetia. Following this discovery, Dr. Johnson sought counsel with the research team studying SCP-616 — leading to the establishment of SCP-5251's containment procedures through collaborative trial and error.
It is believed that SCP-5215 can read the thoughts of humans, based on the transcripts of interviews with the entity. Foundation personnel with sensitive information are thus forbidden from entering the proximity of SCP-5215's holding cell to prevent any leaks.
MRI monitoring suggests that subjects exposed to SCP-5215 (who will be referred to as SCP-5215-1) suffer memory loss while experiencing extreme fear and pain prior to expiration — though D-class personnel are unable to communicate following exposure which makes it impossible to prove this theory.
SCP-5215 has phased through the bulletproof pane on one occasion prior to the involvement of the Catholic nuns, though unlike SCP-106 no corrosive effects were observed afterward. It is unclear whether SCP-5215 has the ability to phase through concrete as it has never attempted to breach containment through the interior walls.
Completely encasing the entity in concrete is not advised as it would break the line of sight protocols. It's also unnecessary at this time as current containment procedures have been effective since their establishment. Unlike SCP-096 who abhors being viewed, it appears as though SCP-5215 has narcissistic tendencies and thus enjoys attention — in addition to using its shapeshifting capabilities for luring purposes.
Interviews:
Foreword: The stationed nun was instructed to pause her prayer so that the entity may be interviewed by Dr. Johnson.
<Begin Log>
Dr. Johnson: My name is Dr. Johnson.
SCP-5215: …
Dr. Johnson: And you are?
SCP-5215: I go by many names…
Dr. Johnson: I'd love to hear one of them, perhaps the one you go by most often.
SCP-5215: The mortal who brought me to this facility made a promise… one he has failed to keep…
Dr. Johnson: I'm sorry to hear that, allow me to apologize on behalf of him.
SCP-5215: I will allow you to do no such thing! I will not answer any questions until I speak to that worthless, deceitful mortal!
Dr. Johnson: I'm sorry you feel that way, but surely we can work something out?
SCP-5215: …
<End Log>
Closing Statement: After multiple failed attempts at communication, Dr. Johnson signaled the nun to resume her prayer.
Foreword: Due to SCP-5215's unwillingness to communicate further until its demands are met, O5 Command approved Dr. Johnson's request to have Agent Crane conduct the questioning during this interview. The stationed nun was once again instructed to pause her prayer during the interview.
<Begin Log>
Agent Crane: I heard you've been looking for me.
SCP-5215: It's only natural to seek out what is owed.
Agent Crane: Owed?
SCP-5215: You promised me a regular supply of humans and have completely failed to deliver!
Agent Crane: Don't take it personally. We're trained to say anything and everything necessary to get anomalous entities such as yourself into custody. That being said, answer our questions and I might be able to pull some strings to get you what you want.
SCP-5215: Very well…
Agent Crane: What's your name?
SCP-5215: Let's save that one for the end of the interview. Next question.
Agent Crane: All right. Why did you kill those cultists? It's our understanding that they summoned you. I'd think that would render some gratitude.
SCP-5215: I would not degrade myself by showing gratitude to an inferior species.
Agent Crane: But why kill them?
SCP-5215: Why do ranchers kill cattle?
Agent Crane: You tell me.
SCP-5215: To feed, Agent Crane.
Agent Crane: How do you know my name?
SCP-5215: Don't worry about it…
Agent Crane: The cultists were found in a catatonic state and did die after some time, but their bodies were intact. There was no sign of feeding on any of them.
SCP-5215: There are many ways to feed on your species…
Agent Crane: Enlighten me.
SCP-5215: Suffering…
Agent Crane: You feed on their suffering?
SCP-5215: Yes…
Agent Crane: That's sick.
SCP-5215: I take that as a compliment. Do you still want to know my name, Agent Crane?
Agent Crane Yes.
SCP-5215: Tormentum. Of course, most people say my name backward.
Agent Crane: What kind of stupid name is Mutnemrot?
<End Log>
Closing Statement: SCP-5215 instantaneously teleported out of his holding cell following the reverse pronunciation of his name and rematerialized directly in front of Agent Crane. Containment was quickly reestablished after the nun resumed prayer, immobilizing SCP-5215 and allowing security officers to move the entity back into its holding cell.
Agent Crane expired due to cerebral hemorrhage three days later. MRI monitoring showed hyperactivity in the dorsal posterior insula and amygdala while no activity was observed in the hippocampus. This suggests that Agent Crane was experiencing extreme pain and fear while having simultaneously lost all stored memories.
Scheduled interviews halted until further notice, by order of O5 Command.

Incidents:
The first with the guard. This is why the doctor interviewed SCP-5215 three days later. "Just a snack while waiting for answers." Integrate into Interview 5215-2 line of questioning. SCP-5215 mimicked security personnel to trick the guard into letting it out. Observed based on audio-video recording.
Phase through the glass. Prior to prayer protocol.
The second with the nun. She prayed facing away from the SCP-5215. Failure to make eye contact rendered the prayer ineffective. It's unclear if her fear also augmented SCP-5215's strength making it powerful enough to breach containment. Died in 24 hours, the fastest. Prompting tests to gauge the mortality time. Nuns rushed there to restore containment. Ethyl del Rosario. 18 years old.
