Special Containment Procedures: SCP-1963-V is contained in a 10 m x 10 m x 10 m steel chamber. Four (4) large dehumidifiers are installed in the cell and must be active at all times, with the only exception being repairs. Personnel are to perform maintenance on the chamber weekly and should be equipped with protective suits designed to repel moisture. Security cameras mounted in the chamber are trained on SCP-1963-V and will alert staff if any movement is detected and simultaneously trigger a locking mechanism, sealing the door with a watertight temperature-resistant barrier. Cameras must be disabled before entering the chamber (See Addendum A). Malfunction of any equipment must be repaired immediately.

Under no circumstances are water-based solutions of any type to be introduced to SCP-1963-V's cell without permission granted by an O5 personnel for research. Twelve hours prior to research, all equipment must be undergo intense dehydration to remove moisture. In the case of a flood, water sensors in and around the chamber will trigger the watertight lock. If SCP-1963-V breaches containment, guards are to neutralize it with K-Grade flamethrowers.

Description: SCP-1963-V is a blueish-white crystal approximating 5 millimeters in diameter. It was recovered by the Foundation when agents were notified of a large icy mass on [REDACTED] island off the coast of Florida. Recovery Team 4C took samples of the anomaly and destroyed the remains using flamethrowers. Class A amnestics were administered to all direct witnesses. This event was consistent with two other reports of SCP-1963-V, one in [REDACTED] and another near ████████, Russia. Both events were dealt with in similar ways.

D18815 frozen by SCP-1963-V

When SCP-1963-V comes into contact with water, it rapidly "freezes" it, turning it into more crystals of itself. Chemical analysis of SCP-1963-V shows that it is composed of only Oxygen and Hydrogen, though researchers have been unable to replicate the chemical structure of it. Extensive testing of SCP-1963-V has shown that it is capable of freezing seawater, fruit, animals, plants, and blood. If SCP-1963-V is introduced to temperatures of over 38°C, it will melt and neutralize to become pure water (H₂O). This water no longer has any properties of SCP-1963-V, and is considered safe (See Research Logs I-IV).

Reports from multiple individuals state that SCP-1963-V was created by their father, Dr. █████ █████████, a lead scientist in the Manhattan Project. It was known to all individuals as "Ice-9". SCP-1963-V was originally created for the purpose of eased movement for American soldiers during WW2. It was meant to solidify any marshlands that would otherwise slow down the soldiers. The children of Dr. █████████ identified themselves as ████ ██████████, ███████ ██████████, and █████ █████████. They claimed that they divided SCP-1963-V among themselves after they disposed of both their father and a dog's corpse that had been frozen by the crystal. While they evaporated the dog using an oven, they [DATA EXPUNGED] Dr. ██████████'s body. The samples of SCP-1963-V traveled with their carriers and spread around the world until all three known samples were neutralized. Dr. █████████ was said to have been extremely careless and childish, resulting in errors in his research and ultimately, his death.

Research Log I - 8/14/19██

Subjects:

• 2 apples
• 2 apples covered in distilled water (H₂O)
• 1 coconut
• 1 coconut soaked in distilled water (H₂O)
• 1 pineapple

Procedure:

• SCP-1963-V implanted in all four apples simultaneously via robotic arms. Both untreated apples froze and changed from red to light blue. The treated apples were covered with long spines of similar color.
• SCP-1963-V implanted in both coconuts simultaneously via robotic arms. The treated coconut grew large twisting spines of a light blue color. The untreated coconut fractured and sent shards around the testing chamber.
• SCP-1963-V applied to pineapple via robotic arm. Pineapple began growing frost on the leaves before becoming rigid and falling apart.

Results:
All subjects took between 0.10 and 0.50 seconds to freeze. Subjects destroyed in incinerator.

Research Log II - 8/24/19██

Subjects:

• 1 liter of distilled water
• 1 liter of crude oil
• 1 liter of bovine blood
• 1 liter of liquid nitrogen
• 1 liter of concentrated hydrochloric acid (HCl)

Procedure:

• Sample of SCP-1963-V applied to water. Froze in 0.08 seconds.
• Sample of SCP-1963-V applied to crude oil. No reaction occurred.
• Sample of SCP-1963-V applied to blood. Froze in 0.15 seconds, with a dark red hue.
• Sample of SCP-1963-V applied to liquid nitrogen. No reaction occurred.
• Sample of SCP-1963-V applied to acid. No reaction occurred.

Results:
Any liquids that contained water froze. All materials neutralized of SCP-1963-V and destroyed in chemical disposal.

Research Log III - 9/14/19██

Subject:

• Male D class (D18815)

Procedure:

• Subject was asked to ingest a sample of SCP-1963-V. Subject displayed a shocked expression on his face 0.59 seconds after he placed it in his mouth. Dr. Lowe asked the subject to describe the sensation. Subject was unresponsive and began turning a shade of blue.

Results:
D18815's body was tested and incinerated.
