Special Containment Procedures: SCP XXXX is physically uncontainable due to the creature’s size and immense hostility towards man-made objects that enter its underwater domain. Mobile Task Force Gamma-6 "Deep Feeders" are to maintain a presence on the Sargasso Sea above SCP XXXX to track its movements and monitor its health. Should civilian divers become aware of SCP XXXX, Gamma-6 is to recover any evidence of SCP XXXX's existence and administer Class-A Amnestics to all parties involved.

Description: SCP XXXX is a large aquatic animal approximately 270 - 280 meters in length, dominating an underwater area known as the Sargasso Sea. SCP XXXX resides approximately two kilometers beneath the surface and moves along the sea’s perimeter in what is believed to be a regular patrol path. As the creature moves through an area, ocean currents are directed away from the Sargasso Sea towards other parts of the world, resulting in the sea’s characteristic lack of any significant ocean currents. Why or how SCP XXXX accomplishes this remains unknown. However, if SCP XXXX were to stop patrolling for any reason, it's likely that ocean currents would resume their natural course. Due to the creature's presumably advanced age, as it's believed it has been sustaining the Sargasso Sea for thousands, if not millions of years, this makes monitoring SCP-XXXX's health and ensuring its confinement to its current location is a task of utmost importance. Failure to achieve this would result in the disruption of global climate and the discovery of SCP-XXXX by global population.

SCP XXXX bears an extreme hostility toward any underwater vessels that near the creature or the sea floor will be attacked by SCP XXXX quickly and without warning. To date, 47 Foundation craft have been destroyed by SCP XXXX, including the deep-sea research vessel Poseidon, which was able to transmit a single image before its hull imploded, killing the crew instantly. Following this incident, no further attempts to directly observe SCP XXXX have been made due to the unacceptable risk to human life and loss of highly expensive research equipment.

Upon recognizing the presence of a man-made object, SCP XXXX will approach it at high speed and circle for a short duration, emitting what has been described as a “growl” detectable via sonar as it circles the object. After making this threat display, it will rapidly close on the object and ram it. SCP XXXX has been observed to break speeds of over 100 knots when ramming from a distance of 200 meters, resulting in an estimated impact force in excess 530 million newtons.

SCP XXXX's discovery was by accident: a Foundation satellite that was supposed to be monitoring deep space for anomalous activity unexpectedly malfunctioned and spun out of control, scanning large swathes of the Atlantic Ocean as it did so. Analysis of the data logs after the satellite self-destructed revealed the presence of a large, moving object along the perimeter of the Sargasso Sea. A research team was dispatched to investigate, discovering SCP XXXX. It was almost immediately discovered that SCP XXXX directs ocean currents away from the Sargasso Sea, leading on-site personnel to conclude that SCP XXXX is at least as old as the Sargasso Sea, if not older. Further gains have been minimal due to the creature's hostility.

It is currently unknown how SCP XXXX sustains itself, though a theory commonly accepted by those assigned to SCP XXXX is that the creature filters micro-organisms from the water to feed on. This theory has not been confirmed as of yet due to the extreme difficulty of returning samples from waters that SCP XXXX has passed through recently. It is believed the vast expanse of water SCP XXXX patrols is the minimum amount of micro-organism rich water it requires to sustain itself. Due to a lack of any other similarly sized phenomenon in any of the world’s oceans, it is believed that SCP XXXX is the last of its kind.
