Item #: SCP-4623
Object-Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: Small, hidden cameras are to be placed in any and all rural or suburban convenience store or supermarket, excepting those owned by large companies. They should stream a video output at all times, which will be monitored closely by foundation personnel. If any instance of SCP-4623 is found on said video feed or reported to The Foundation, an agent should be dispatched to that location immediately. There they will collect the instance and return it to Storage Site 32, where it will be placed in a locked 2m x 40cm x 40cm storage bin. No instance of SCP-4623 should be removed from its bin, unless authorized by personnel with Class-2 clearance or above for testing purposes only.
In cases of exposure to SCP-4623, if the subject has been applying an instance’s contents for less than two weeks, they should be apprehended and given amnestics, before being allowed to return to society. If a subject has been applying its contents for over two weeks, they should be terminated immediately and incinerated in a Cearman’s Induction Incinerator, also located at Storage Site 32, as quickly as possible. Furthermore, any instances of SCP-4623-1 or SCP-4623-2 should be collected in acid and tear-resistant sealed storage bags. They will then be brought to site 32 for immediate incineration in the same fashion as mentioned above. It is imperative that no living organisms come into contact with SCP-4623-1 or SCP-4623-2, and the area around any instances of either should be quarantined straight away.
NOTE: An instance of SCP-4623 entering any body of water inhabited by sharks could lead to a WK-Class Mass Extinction Event.
Description: SCP-4623 is a tube of toothpaste, branded with the name “Great White’s Toothpaste”, under which is the slogan “Great White’s for your great whites!”. To the left of this is a drawing of a cartoon shark with teeth holding a toothbrush and smiling. It is 15cm long, and generally shaped like a full tube of whitening toothpaste with no dents or distinguishing marks— aside from the brand marks.
SCP-4623 manifests itself in the type of convenience stores and supermarkets described in the special containment procedures, among other bodily care products. When scanned, its cost is reported to be $1.39, but no employee recalls stocking it.
The back side of SCP-4623 has writing on it, consisting of ingredients and a warning. The ingredients are listed as “Active Ingredients: Sodium monofluorophosphate, your own pitiful envy, in oculis Deus. Inactive Ingredients: Glycerin, water, hydrated silica”. Just below the ingredients is the warning, which reads “JudgeCorp Inc. is not liable for any damages caused by your miserable vanity.”
When the contents of an instance of SCP-4623 are applied to a human’s teeth, others immediately find said teeth to be attractive. If the substance continues to be applied at least once a day, after about three days the user’s teeth will have shifted into a perfect form, and will feel slightly loose. Users have reported an urge to continue using the substance after this time. The teeth will continue to loosen, and after about a week they will start to fall out. Once a tooth falls out, a new one will grow in its place over the course of approximately one hour. Over the course of the second week of the substance’s use, both the tooth’s falling out and its regrowth quickens until the whole process takes about one hour. After this time, teeth will start to form in the user’s tissue, and on the surface of their bones. This signifies that the process is irreversible, and will continue even if the user stops applying SCP-4623’s contents. (Prior to this, ceasing use of the substance will slow and eventually stop the process, although the user’s teeth will appear horrid. If a user later continues use of the toothpaste, the process will pick up where it left off.) Others who witness this don’t seem to notice or care, neglecting it as if it was normal. Sometime within the beginning of the third week, the user will suddenly begin to expel a steady stream of teeth from their mouth, and the teeth inside their flesh will rapidly exit outwards through the skin, with more growing in their place. The user will anonymously start to turn into teeth completely, and eventually the only remnants of them will be a large pile of teeth, deemed SCP-4623-1, always before the end of the third week. If the user never produced teeth, however, the entire process will develop as normal, except teeth will be replaced by tissue like that of the user’s gums, deemed SCP-4623-2.
An instance of SCP-4623-1 appears to be a tooth, like that of the creature that produced it. These teeth do have some anomalous properties, though. They’re incredibly sharp, and easily pierce human skin when touched. If they touch blood or any tissue other than the epidermis, they ‘infect’ the organism touching it with the same ailment caused by repeatedly applying the contents of SCP-4623. This process is irreversible and cannot be stopped, except by anomalous means such as SCP-500.
SCP-4623-2 appears to be gum tissue, like that of the creature that produced it. This tissue is acidic, though, and easily melts through human skin when touched. If they make contact with any part of a creature whose species naturally develop teeth they ‘infect’ said creature with the same ailment caused by repeatedly applying the contents of SCP-4623. Like with SCP-4623-1, this process is irreversible, exempting anomalous cures.
The amount of either teeth or gum tissue totals to the number of sets of teeth the organism affected would through in its lifetime times the organism’s mass. (ie. A healthy adult human weighing 72 kgs has gone through two sets of teeth in their life, so the mass of teeth expelled after repeatedly applying the contents of SCP-4623 would total up to 144 kgs.)
Any creature whose species do not naturally develop teeth, as well as creatures who have lost all of their teeth part-way through their life, are immune to all effects of SCP-4623, SCP-4623-1, and/or SCP-4623-2.
