Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedure: The object to be kept in a secure containment chamber. Room Is to be guarded as well as monitored at all times to ensure that object is not removed from containment. SCP-XXXX is only to be removed by class 4 personal for the purpose of testing.
Description: SCP-XXXX on outward appearance is a standard 1981 Sun Autofocus 660 Polaroid camera, anomalous properties only manifest when a picture is taken. After testing it has been proven that the anomaly in question from now referred to as SCP-XXXX-1 will appear in photographs regardless of conditions.
SCP-XXXX was recovered from the the local police station in [REDACTED] on ██/██/20██ following the death of local photographer ████ ███████. The initial police report filed by Detective ███████ was what brought SCP-XXXX to foundation attention. Contained within the report was a photograph taken by the camera in question which contained a close up shot of SCP-XXXX-1 (presumably moments before victim expired). Report also contained a detailed log of the crime scene and an audio log recorded by Detective ███████. Audio log of Detective ███████ can be found transcribed below.
All material in addition to SCP-XXXX were taken by foundation staff. All involved in the investigation were then given class 3 amnestics and a cover story written to erase any knowledge of SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-1.
After the object was taken into foundation custody it was tested to see how the anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX work (For more information see test log bellow).
As stated before within each picture taken by SCP-XXXX is the entity known as SCP-XXXX-1. Those not using SCP-XXXX are unaffected by the entity even if direct interaction is made. It should be noted however, that expiration of subject only occurs after prolonged use of SCP-XXXX. Both of these factors was discovered as of test D which can be found in the test logs below.
Test log:
Test A- ██/██/20██
Subject: D-5098
Procedure: SCP-XXXX is to be removed from containment unit and taken to test chamber 89.
SCP- XXXX is to be observed via adjacent chamber via separation bulletproof glass. Chamber is to
be monitored via infrared cameras and electromagnetic waves. Subject D-5098 was given prior
knowledge of the nature of SCP-XXXX. Subject must continue to use SCP-XXXX as instructed
throughout the duration of the test.
Result: Subject was at first reluctant to use SCP-XXXX due to prior briefing on the properties
of the object. However, after threat of termination subject complied with foundation orders. Subject
proceeded to take a photo using SCP-XXXX as instructed. A picture was instantly produced by SCP-
XXXX. Photo only took several seconds to develop immediately afterwards subject began to scream
expletives and back away slowly. Subject points to far end of the testing chamber where creature
has supposedly manifested.
Subject was asked to describe the nature of SCP-XXXX-1 to which the subject described through
rapid breath the following: “Creature is human in appearance but significantly taller (243cm or
approximately 8ft) and with grey skin, had extremely long arms ending in sharp appendages, and
head that was smaller in proportion to it body and containing small dilated eyes and no nose”.
After this subject was asked to cease testing and wait several minutes to see if any anomalous
effects occur from viewing SCP-XXXX-1 as result of using SCP-XXXX. After several minutes of no
notable changes to subject or testing environment, subject was escorted out and the object
returned to containment.
Analysis: Test has shown that SCP-XXXX-1 manifests a certain distance from user. We
believe as result of this Creature that manifests cannot harm user using SCP-XXXX so long as it is
continually used. Creature was also unable to be detected either on the infrared cameras nor the
via electromagnetic waves. This This creature seems to be similar to those of SCP-178 only being
visible through the anomalous object in question. Further testing is required to understand
the nature of SCP-XXXX-1.
Test B- ██/██/20██
Subject: D-7989
Procedure: SCP-XXXX is to be removed from containment unit and taken to test chamber 89
SCP- XXXX is to be observed via adjacent chamber via separation bulletproof glass. Chamber is also
to be monitored via infrared cameras and electromagnetic waves. Subject was briefed on the nature
of SCP-XXXX prior to testing. Subject must continue to use SCP-XXXX as instructed throughout the
duration of the test.
Result: Subject was hesitant to use SCP-XXXX due to being aware of its properties. After
threat of termination subject proceeded to pick up SCP-XXXX and proceeded to take a picture as
ordered. Similar to test A the photo produced by SCP-XXXX developed almost instantly and
produced a similar reaction in the subject as that from test A.
Subject was asked to describe the entity that appeared in the photograph and description was
similar to to that from test A. Subject then proceeded to take more photos as instructed resulting in
he subject becoming more uncooperative as they claimed the entity was getting closer.
Against orders subject proceeded to turn in the direction of the bulletproof glass and took a picture.
Subject began to panic as they claimed the entity was now in the room with foundation staff.
Emergency protocols were then enacted and all personal were evacuated from the testing area.
Subject was then terminated and object was returned to containment.
Analysis: Test proved that entity can only move in reality with each subsequent picture taken
by SCP-XXXX. Entity was again not detected by the infrared cameras or electromagnetic waves
proving once again it only exists within photos taken by SCP-XXXX. It is also been noted that if the
subject changes direction before resuming use of SCP-XXXX results in the entities position
resetting. It should be noted that thanks to the subjects actions all further testing of SCP-XXXX has
been halted.
Addendum: After the incident during test B changes had to be made to testing to ensure the safety of foundation staff. All further test will be monitored remotely as it is unknown if entity can affect those who do not directly view it.
Test C- ██/██/20██
Subject: D-5098
Procedure: SCP-XXXX is to be removed from containment unit and taken to test chamber 35.
Chamber is to be monitored remotely by foundation staff via standard video and audio feed.
Chamber is also to be monitored via infrared cameras and electromagnetic waves. This test is to
see how simulated environmental conditions affect the appearance of SCP-XXXX-1. D-5098 was
brought in again for testing due to prior knowledge of the object in question. Subject must continue
to use SCP-XXXX as instructed throughout the duration of the test.
Result: Subject picked up the object as instructed lights in test chamber were then turned off
to simulate night. Subject then proceeded to take photo as instructed. Lights were then turned back
on and subject was to describe if entity appears in photo even in simulated darkness. Subject
stated that entity was clearly visible even in the darkness surrounding it within the photo. Several
more simulated wether tests were done to see if patterns of rain, snow, and other natural
occurrences affected the manifestation of SCP-XXXX-1. After which test was ended and SCP-XXXX
was returned to containment.
Analysis: //SCP-XXXX-1 appears for all cases unaffected by changes in temperature as well as
lighting and other naturally occurring weather patterns. Foundation staff is still unclear how it is able
to appear clearly viable in the dark.
It is surmised that SCP-XXXX-1 is an entity that does not exist in our reality. This would explain why
it is undetectable by both infrared waves as well as electromagnetic waves. However, this theory is
inconclusive more testing is needed to see how direct interaction effects subjects. Foundation staff
are also curious to the nature of how victims expire at the hands of SCP-XXXX.//
Test D- ██/██/20██
Subject: D-4507,D-3570
Procedure: SCP-XXXX is to be removed from containment unit and taken to test chamber 56.
Chamber is to be monitored remotely by foundation staff via standard video and audio feed.
Chamber is also to be monitored via infrared cameras and electromagnetic waves. Test is to see if
entity known as SCP-XXXX-1 effects those not using SCP-XXXX can be physically affected by the
entity. This test is also to see how SCP-XXXX-1 affect subjects after continued use of SCP-XXXX.
Both test subjects were also briefed on the nature of SCP-XXXX prior to testing. Subject 1 (D-
4507) was instructed to use SCP-XXXX during testing. Subject 2 (D-3570) was instructed to interact
with entity known as SCP-XXXX-1 via verbal location given by subject 1.
Results: Subject 1 who was instructed to use SCP-XXXX was at first hesitant to due so out of
fear. After threat of termination however subject picked up SCP-XXXX and began using it as
instructed. After photo produced by object developed subject began to scream expletives and
backed away. Subject was asked to describe entity and gave a description match that given in both
test A and B.
subject 2 was then instructed to go to the area of the room where subject 1 claims the entity is
standing. Subject 2 proceeded to interact with the entity stating “hello, there”, Subject 2 then
remained in position according to instructions for several minutes. After-which, there appeared to
be no physical changes made to the subject.
Subject 1 resumed using SCP-XXXX as instructed until the end of the test. After several minutes of
use and subject expired as their heart was violently ripped from their chest cavity by an unknown
source presumed to be SCP-XXXX-1. D-3570 then began to scream in terror at this site and test
was ended. D-3570 was then removed from test chamber and given class 1 amnestic and D-4507’s
body was disposed of. SCP-XXXX was then returned to its containment chamber.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX-1 does not appear to show any sort of hostility or acknowledgment
toward those not using SCP-XXXX. As for why prolonged use of SCP-XXXX results in expiration of
user at hands of entity is that entity in question only becomes more agitated the more subjects use
SCP- XXXX.
