alright lads this gon be good
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a standard Safe-class containment locker in Site-19, and may be withdrawn for testing.
SCP-XXXX is currently stored in a standard soundproof lockbox in Site-19's anomalous items wing. SCP-XXXX must remain in said lockbox at all times outside of scheduled testing in order to avoid accidental triggering of its effects via unexpected sounds.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a hunting horn fashioned from an animal (most likely an ox). SCP-XXXX is hollowed out and decorated with a gold mouth and end piece, as well as a golden band (approximately 2.5cm wide) running down each side. Engraved into the band on one side are the words 'Albion cometh', with a depiction of a typical 15th century bodkin arrow on the other, in a style consistent with the 15th century.
SCP-XXXX's anomalous effects manifest when the horn is blown. A varying number of translucent figures appear clad in late medieval English armour typical of that worn by the archers of Henry V's Agincourt campaign, with the most common apparel being what appears to be a leather jak (reinforced jacket), steel helmet and woolen clothes, and armed with longbows. The number of these apparitions summoned is dependent on the space available- the amount conjured will typically fill up the room or immediate area with some exceptions (see testing logs). The figures are not made of solid matter and can be passed through with the exception of their arrows when in flight.
When summoned, the figures will fire several volleys of arrows towards the direction the horn was blown, towards any humanoid objects. Between 1 and 5 volleys have been fired in one summoning. Said arrows are fully solid and travel at about 200m/s on average, unusually fast for heavy bodkin arrows as would be typical of the 15th century. These arrows convey a significant (estimated to be in the region of 30 kilojoules) amount of energy, weighing roughly 10 grams, again unusually light. After firing, the arrows will slowly become translucent and then transparent, disappearing ~5 minutes (shortest measured being 4m29s, longest 5m24s) after firing.
SCP-XXXX was discovered in 1982 on the Falkland Islands, shortly after the end of the Falklands War. It was found discarded on the frontal face of Mount ████████ where a unit of the ███████████████ had previously advanced towards Argentinian positions. Several Argentinian bodies recovered from the area displayed extremely deep and clean wounds, determined after autopsy to not have been caused by conventional firearms. The horn was recovered by a Foundation agent posing as a British journalist after hearing a horn being blown along with the sounds of bows being fired on the night of the ██th of May as a precaution, and was determined to be anomalous following testing at Site-██.
Following recontainment, Maj. ██████ of the █████████ was interned and interviewed about the events of the ██th.
Interviewed: Maj. ██████, an Argentinian officer formerly stationed on Mt. ████████
Interviewer: Agent ███
Foreword: Maj. ██████ was summoned to shed light on SCP-XXXX's usage in the Falklands War.
<Begin Log, 10:07AM, ██/09/82>
Agent ███: Major ██████, we understand that you were present on Mount ████████ during the night of the █th of May.
Maj. ██████: That is correct. We were to hold the hill until the ██th, at which point we would be rotated out.
Agent ███: Did you hear the sound of a horn that night, at approximately 1AM?
Maj. ██████: How could I not? It was a horrid sound.[EXPUNGED FOR BREVITY]
Agent ███: Explain what happened after the horn was blown.
Maj. ██████: I was moving to Sergeant █████████'s position when it was blown. The next thing I knew, I was face down in a foxhole with my left leg shattered. I looked down, and an arrow was in my leg, except it appeared to be.. fading. In another minute it had gone and I started bleeding. I must have blacked out.
Agent ███: Did you observe what happened to the other men on Mount ████████?
Maj. ██████: I heard screaming and saw the roll call the morning afterwards, almost all of them were dead, with a few wounded and two men unharmed.
Agent ███: That'll be all, Major. We'll be in contact if we want to know anything else.
Maj. ██████: [Audible swallowing can be heard.]
<End Log, 10:25AM>Closing Statement: Maj. ██████ was issued Class-B amnestics and underwent a brief reconditioning course to remove the memories of the incident and interview. Remaining members of his unit and relatives amnesticised or terminated to preserve secrecy.
Addendum 1: SCP-XXXX can be triggered by loud sounds not necessarily near the mouthpiece. During initial containment, Dr. ██████ accidentally activated the item from 3 metres away by shouting, resulting in █ casualties, who were all killed via bodily trauma from the arrows fired. SCP-XXXX is now to be kept in a sound-proof environment.
Addendum 2: SCP-XXXX may be more sentient than previously assumed. During testing on ██/██/2005, two figures briefly discussed weather with Dr. █████ in a Welsh dialect, appearing to be able to observe and react to Site-██'s weather. Comments were mainly about how the weather was unexpectedly hot after 'the battle', which was simply described as rainy and cold.
Addendum 3: SCP-XXXX may be related to the legend of the 'Angels of Mons'. Foundation historians are currently evaluating historical accounts and post-mortem records in order to ascertain whether SCP-XXXX is connected.
