Item #: SCP-5967
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5967 is stored inside of a standard storage locker at site-82. SCP-5967-2 is stored inside of its own chamber for testing purposes. The chamber has to be a minimum of 3 meters by 2 meters by 2 meters with its own ventilation system in case of a leak. SCP-5967-2 is to be stored in its solid state by constantly cooling it with a liquid nitrogen flow for minimal anomalous side effects. Access is locked behind level 2 security clearance for testing purposes.
Description: SCP-5967 is a brass keychain that is 12 centimeters high and 2 centimeters wide. It displays its anomalous properties when the viewer goes a certain distance away from it, at which point it will disappear only in their point of view. Said properties manifest depending on the viewers vision, and are unaffected by vision altering objects, such as glasses or contacts.
SCP-5967-2 is 146 gallons of a stable version of the 118th element on the periodic table, oganesson. Whenever any object is put inside, dunked, or surrounded by the element, be it in a box made out of its solid form or a vat full of its liquid form the dunked object will manifest anomalous properties. These properties will be random but are always based around principles of non Euclidian geometry or simpler concepts such as the objects size. Experiments are still being conducted (see [link to experiment logs])
SCP-5967 was discovered in Lucerne Valley, California, after a college student, (Emiliano Zamora,) with poor eyesight tossed his keys to a friend and noticed a brown smudge disappear. He and his friend proceeded to post about it on social media, although the post got removed before it became widespread, and class-a antimemetics were issued to all viewers. After interviews with the student (omitted for brevity) the source was found to be from a street vendor in Guanajuato Mexico.
MTF unit epsilon-6 "village idiots" were designated for finding the source of the anomaly. After travelling to the location of the street vendor on 7/15/2020, the vendor reveals that they found the keychain in a abandoned drug den and were selling other goods from there for profit, unknowing of their anomalous properties. New posts about anomalous objects on social media are being examined to look for the rest of them. A raid was organized on the den later that week. After breaking in, they find a corpse, cause of death unconfirmed, and 3 barrels full of stable oganesson. The barrels were rotting from the inside and if left for any longer would have leaked the substance. Further investigation still needed.
Addendum1: Subsequently, the MTF unit found a journal from the corpse (read further for transcription), and after the autopsy the cause of death is confirmed to be from an overdose of crack cocaine.
