Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: The object should be kept in a secure container in a sealed vault. No personnel beneath Level 3 clearance may access it. Any further research related to live test subjects should be cleared by the acting Site Director.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a cassette tape produced in late 1982 containing a single track, the 1982 single "I Ran (So Far Away)", performed by A Flock of Seagulls. The direct origin of the cassette is unknown, as it was discovered in a dilapidated music store, which was foreclosed by a local bank located in [REDACTED], Ohio in the late 90s. The cassette has no markings indicating a manufacturer or distributor.
SCP-XXXX, upon being listened to, will elicit a strong flight instinct in the subject, causing them to run in any direction that will put as much distance between them and the cassette as possible. Through further testing, it was found that this need to get away from the cassette is so strong that one subject tried to scrape through solid concrete with their bare hands, resulting in violent exposure of tissue and bone. Attempts to restrain a subject from running have been met with violence. After one to three days of no exposure to the cassette, all subjects returned to a relatively normal condition, albeit with signs of mental scarring.
After being asked why they needed to run and get away from the object so badly, all subjects explained that they were running from "her". None so far have elaborated. This entity, whatever she or it may be, has been given the designation SCP-XXXX-1.
Addendum: The cassette has been heard playing it's music without a player. No ill effects reported as of yet, however the object is being moved to Site-██, for enhanced containment.
