SCP-XXXX Time Barn
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
Area-XXXX is to be manned by no less than eighteen (18) forces at any given time. No personnel are to enter SCP-XXXX through any doors or windows, and opening the main door from any point is strictly prohibited unless for research purposes.
Native flora has been planted around SCP-XXXX and Area-XXXX to obstruct it from view from any nearby roads and maintained regularly. Electric barbed wire fences enclose an area of 1.5 square kilometers around SCP-XXXX.
Should any entity enter or exit SCP-XXXX from any point, it is to be tracked and detained. Should any entity not survive, it is to be cremated as soon as possible, unless any personnel wish to conduct any studies. If any studies are done on an emerging entity, hazmat suits are to be worn at all times.
Should any personnel decide to enter SCP-XXXX through the main entrance, they are to equip proper protection and hazmat suits and proceed with decontamination protocols when entering or exiting SCP-XXXX.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a horse barn found in ████, Michigan. Its dimensions equate to roughly 9m x 12m x 9m. It is constructed almost entirely from oak and has been painted red with white highlights on supports or moldings, though the paint has chipped and faded due to age. SCP-XXXX possesses a large, main door (which has been measured to be 8m x 8m in size), a back door, and a window situated above the main door which could be used to access the loft.
Should an individual attempt to enter or leave through the main entrance, they will instead open a gateway to a random time and location in Earth’s history. There appears to be no barrier between the current time period and the time period that SCP-XXXX leads to, allowing anyone or anything which enters SCP-XXXX can exist in both time periods at once. In the location SCP-XXXX leads to, there is a frame of a barn door leading to the current time and location. If barn door closes, it is presumed the rift to the time and locations closes as well. It’s unknown what happens to the doorframe before or after the barn door closes, as there is no way to exchange data prior to or following the opening or closing of SCP-XXXX. During no research thus far has SCP-XXXX opened to an area inhospitable for terrestrial life. However, if one attempts to enter or exit SCP-XXXX through the back door or window, they will find themselves in a, by all accounts, normal barn ideal for up to two horses.
The main door to SCP-XXXX will automatically open once every thirty five days for a duration of eighteen minutes before automatically closing. It is unknown how or why it does this. If the main door of SCP-XXXX is opened manually it will remain open unless manually closed. Attempts to close SCP-XXXX manually when it opens automatically show the doors will not move. Expeditions into SCP-XXXX are still pending.
Document XXXX-1: A catalogue of zoological entities that emerged from SCP-XXXX. Through unknown means and reasons, the entrance to SCP-XXXX attracts megafaunal species. Every time the door opens, there is an approximated 65% chance a megafaunal species will attempt to exit SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX-1-a: A small, ornithomimid dinosaur that is believed to be a juvenile, female Deinocheirus mirificus. The dinosaur remains in captivity.
SCP-XXXX-1-b: A newborn dinosaur believed to be a female Tarbosaurus (Tyrannosaurus) bataar hatchling somewhere between six and eight days old. It was extremely malnourished and died only two hours after emergence. Autopsies show it had broken its left femur somehow, and was likely abandoned by its parents.
[It should be noted that, after these two encounters, it was believed SCP-XXXX only opened into eastern Asia sometime during the late Cretaceous period. Future encounters, however, disbanded this belief.]
SCP-XXXX-1-c: An adult male American lion (Panthera (leo) atrox). The animal appeared confused, and therefore agitated. It mauled a personnel before being neutralized.
SCP-XXXX-1-d: An adult female red fox (Vulpes vulpes). It managed to squeeze through the fence and escape. The fence was reinforced following this incident.
SCP-XXXX-1-e: An adult, male, mammalian creature resembling a Canadian lynx (Lynx canadensis) that was roughly the size of a German shepherd. The creature was disoriented and therefore agitated. However, it was tranquilized and returned to its native time before it could cause any serious injury. DNA analysis showed it was not an animal known to any zoological or genetics organization. However, its DNA was most akin to that of the southern grasshopper mouse (Onychomys torridus), and is theorized to be a descendant, and was given the scientific name of Dracomussa paraleo (literally translating to “the dragon mouse that is like a lion”). From how far into the future it is from, however, is unknown.
[It should be noted that though SCP-XXXX-1-e did not come into direct physical contact with any personnel, any individuals who were in close proximity to it or made physical contact when moving it later died of a highly evolved strain of the common cold. After this, it was required for personnel to cremate any entities that died emerging from SCP-XXXX and to wear protective clothing.]
SCP-XXXX-1-f: A large insect that is believed to be an adult, female Meganeura brongniarti. It died of suffocation only six minutes after emerging.
SCP-XXXX-1-g: The only human to have emerged from SCP-XXXX. He was a human male of European descent who claimed his name was Oliver Greene and he was 23 years old. When questioned when and where he came from, he remarked he was from the Colony of New South Wales and the date was Saturday, the 22nd of May, 1880. He was allowed to go back through SCP-XXXX after being administered an amnesiac.
SCP-XXXX-1-h: A crab-like creature about the size of an English mastiff. It has no discernible gender or age and was covered in unknown species of algae. It died of hypothermic shock six minutes after emerging. DNA analysis shows its only living relative is the emperor shrimp (Periclimenes imperator). Like SCP-XXXX-1-e, it is believed to be a descendant from the distant future.
SCP-XXXX-1-i: An elderly, male, reptilian creature believed to be a Scutosaurus karpinskii. The animal remained in foundation custody until its death on June 6, 2021.
SCP-XXXX-1-j - SCP-XXXX-1-m: Four instances of adult SCP-939. The creatures killed six personnel and injured nine more before fleeing back into SCP-XXXX, where they managed to escape.
[It should be noted that, while returning from tracking SCP-XXXX-1-j through SCP-XXXX-1-m, personnel managed to bring back flora samples. The samples showed to be of a sample of Pleuromeia dubia, a flora species that went extinct from Africa and Australia during the Triassic Period. This called into question whether SCP-939 has been around since the Triassic Period or if they arrived in that time period through other anomalous means.]
SCP-XXXX-1-n: An adult, male marsupial believed to be a Thylacoleo carnifex. The animal was captured and remains in foundation custody.
SCP-XXXX-1-o: A giant rodent believed to be a subadult, female Josephoartigasia monesi. The animal became aggressive after emerging from SCP-XXXX and had to be neutralized.
SCP-XXXX-1-p: A large, semi-armored, elderly, female reptile that was captured and remains in foundation custody. It is roughly the size of a small car, and DNA analysis shows its closest living relative is Hermann's tortoise (Testudo hermanni), and is believed to be a descendant. The animal was given the scientific name Parstegatortue futur, meaning "partially covered turtle from the future." Any personnel that interacts with SCP-XXXX-1-p (nicknamed "Shelly"), is to wear a hazmat suit, as tests have shown it is infected with an unknown illness, however itself seems immune.
