Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is due to its immobility in a 100x100m wide area with a 30m high and 4m wide steel wall around the location of the impact point near [ACCESS DENIED] bounded to prevent its spread. A roof was subsequently installed with ventilation systems in order to slow down the aggressive spread despite the steel wall, to prevent unauthorized aerial photography and avoid escaping newly scrapped sub-SCPs. Cleaning work on the inner walls must be done by D-classes in specially made protective suits, which must be destroyed after the end of the activity. If there is damage to the suits during work, which exposes the user to the atmosphere of SCP-XXXX, the suit and the user are immediately to be terminated.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a meteor with a estimated former diameter of 5m² which struck near before █████████. This meteor is particularly striking due to the unusually blue color of the rock caused by microorganisms. The Foundation became aware after a spectator took a chunk of the meteroid to his hometown ████████, whereby just over half of the population mutated to beings, which the agents described as "mushroom zombies". In response, the entire town with a (remaining) population of ██ was terminated, and a story about a massive landslide was made out. After securing the impact site, renamed area ██, researchers found that the organism, which is responsible for the unusual blue color, triggers strong mutations in other living organisms. It was also found that the proliferation of SCP-XXXX strongly depends on the environment. While it slowly spreads at its impact point in the desert due to the drought and low plant and animal life, this would spread so quickly in a well-air-conditioned area that it would grow to the size of New York within a day. In addition, light is an important factor in the spread, since it can survive without only around 24 hours, which is why spreading underground is impossible if there is no spontaneous mutation. Attempts to kill the organism by hiding the sunlight failed because it was able to secrete independent light at the time, but the roofing was retained as a further safety measure. After some time, SCP-XXXX started to create its own fauna in its closed area with all mushroom-like animals and plants. Due to the diversity of species, these are listed according to XXXXa-[number] (plants) and XXXXb-[number] (animals).

Update: All experiments with D-classes are now banned! (See addendum)

Update II: Recently, SCP-XXXX managed to create an intelligent life form that began to imitate their gestures when observing the personnel on site. After attempting to communicate through the speaker system, it even imitate human speech. This life form is currently being held and taught in an observation cell under the description SCP-XXXXc-I in order to prepare it for future interviews.

Addendum: Experiment logs under the supervision of Dr. ███████.

Experiment 1:
Subject D-51 was exposed to the SCP-XXXX area without protection.

0:17 after the start of the test:

We noticed a bluish tint on his skin and pupils.

0:34 after the start of the test:

The color of his skin became more apparent along with a rapid loss of hair on the subject's head.

0:40 after the start of the test:

Complete hair loss of the subject with a slowly noticeable bulge on his head with white spots.

0:45 after the start of the test:

Subject is no longer able to make human sounds and only lets out moans.

1:00 after the start of the test:

The bulge on the subject's head has grown to the size of the actual head and has taken the form of a mushroom, complete with spores under the umbrella. Subject also moves and continues to make loud sounds, although it is no longer displayed as living by our devices.

2:00 after the start of the test:

No visible changes in the subject since the last update. Continuation of this experiment will possibly get nothing new anymore.

Subject D-51 was terminated.

Experiment II:
Subject D-53 was injected with a sample of SCP-XXXX's microorganisms.

0:02 after the start of the test:

We already noticed the bluish tint of both skin and pupils at an alarming rate.

0:05 after the start of the test:

Everything is going too fast. What took a 3/4h in the last experiment now happens within a few minutes!

0:10 after the start of the test: [DATA EXPUNGED]
█:██ after the start of the test:

Sgt. ███████ from Security. This mushroom monster has just massacred the entire research team. Bullets were of no use at first. Before a bullet could land, the last one was already healed. I was only able to kill it after the light went out. Apparently, its ability to regenerate responds to light in a similar way to the spread of the actual organism. I will immediately send the report to the O5s so that they can act accordingly.

Subject D-53 was cremated along with the bodies of the ██ victims.

Insight: From now on, any direct unprotected contact with SCP-XXXX and its associated subspecies, XXXXa and XXXXb, is strictly prohibited.
